Did you learn something new today?

Today I learned that the RAN's lowest officer rank is sub-lieutenant and not ensign as I thought.

Today I learned:

  1. Duck gizzard is a beautiful scarlet color. I wonder if the meat is the same color.
  2. Pork kidney is the slickest dammed thing in the world, and it will fall down in the food disposal before you can catch it.
  3. Food disposals are NOT equipped to cut up whole pork kidney.
  4. Asian markets have the coolest and creepiest cuts of meat.
  5. Goose feet and heads are really cool to look at.

Today I learned that the "Hide your presence online" function actually does work (at a time when I thought it didn't)... not that I'd use it of course. Yet.

I also learned that ants are the most annoying insects in the universe... makes me thankful that spiders exist.

Today I learnt about the existence of this creature

I want to see if any one can recognise what it is.

Don't know but his mother looks really pissed that you took a photo of him.

EDIT - I just went to my homepage, and the answer was staring me in the face in one of the newslinks.

It's one of these. Um, I mean, one of these.

I prefer the specimen in the first link, though. ;)

Having watched the first two games on my 'Essential Games of Yankee Stadium' DVD set, I learned that baseball fans in the 1970s were, without a doubt, absolutely batshit insane.

Just look at what happened after Chris Chambliss hit that homer during the '76 ALCS. And I dare you to describe the fan reaction to the last game of the '77 World Series without using the word 'cluster'. :klingon: I mean, even Mr. October himself was running in fear for his life after the end of the game! (In the top of the 9th, when he was out in the field, he had to leave and go get his batting helmet because PEOPLE WERE THROWING GADDAM FIRECRACKERS AT HIM!!! :wtf: )

I learned not to try to fill a prescription at 5pm on a weekday at my local pharmacy.

CVS is not a fun place to spend 45 minutes.

I learned yesterday that the Bed Manager doesn't always tell the truth all the time. So my consultant says. ;)

Today, on the other hand, I learned that Crimbo appears to be over at the Kingdom of Loathing. :( :( :(

I learned a new route of travel from home to my place of work. It's the same as the travel from work to home, but in the opposite direction along the same route. You know that feeling of nervousness when travelling the opposite way of a route you usually travel in one certain direction? It's like driving the car backwards, only... not.

I learned that running around in Battlefield: Bad Company and trying to do mostly knifekills is maniacal fun.

I learned that pressing F6 in any internet browser automatically gives the address bar focus so I can highlight the whole address and paste in my own easier

And thanks to your post, I've now learned that one too. Nice tip! :D
