Rare Trek Photos - January 2009! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everybody! Just put up this months edition of rare photos. Finished compiling the July edition just the other night. Will start work on August next. ;)

The highlights (IMHO)...

First row, left - If you pull out your copy of TSFS, and watch the scene where Kirk reviews the flight recorder visuals after his mind meld with Sarek, and you still don't get why this picture is special, you're daft! LOL. Kirk is wearing his glasses! The glasses broken in TWOK, and pawned with those broken lenses in TVH. So apparently, keeping his specs broken was a late decision done during filming. :)

Second row, right - I wish it where larger resolution, but beggars and choosers and all that. The DS9 cast (minus Nana) engulfed in a sea of Tribbles!

Fifth row, center - This photo is BEGGING for a "Caption This!" contest! :guffaw:

Page 2, first row, center - Freeze frame in time, as fans protest the cancellation of Star Trek.

Second row, left and center - two seperate rejected publicity shots. The first of B'Elanna from Voyager's... oh hell, the proof sheet says 1998 on it, you figure it out! :p The next of Kirk, you've seen others from this set before, but in this one, Shatner looks about 5 years younger for some reason. Looks more like Lt. Kirk than Captain!

Fourth row, left and right - Leonard Nimoy pops in on the Carol Burnett show, circa 1967. Far out! LOL. Then we've got Stewart and Frakes, side-by-side, on the Paramount backlot during the earliest days of TNG.

Enjoy! :)

Ohhh Frontier how I love you so!!!!! Thank you so much for these!!!

Man, the first 2 seasons of TNG featured some really tight form fitting uniforms...

Thank you so much! I love the shot of the protest. Some of the signs are awesome ... It is totally illogical to cancel Star Trek! Vulcan power! Draft Spock! lol
:p

I believe she was Miss Teen America that year. Tanya somebody? I can't remember her name, sorry.

Aye, Miss Teen USA. Name escapes me though.

I think, though, I titled the photo something about her being such. I usually try to insert such info into the file name for you folks. ;)

I don't see a Tanya for any of the likely years, but here's the list.

In the picture of Siddig standing and leaning on the arm of the director's chair, (page 2, row 3, center) any idea who that is in the upper right corner? He looks familiar.

I'm pretty sure that's Avery Brooks stand-in. The guy who stands there while they set up lighting and such. I've seen him in another image previously.

I'm pretty sure it isn't James Minor, but it could be Clynell Jackson III (though I'm far from sure, given the pics of him I've been able to find.) There are supposed to be other images of him from the shooting of "Tears of the Prophets" to be found in Star Trek: Action, according to his entry at Memory Alpha.

Indeed, that's where I've think I've seen him - Star Trek: Action. Though, I too, am not 100%.

I do know Sid didn't enjoy directing! Heh.

Is that Carol Burnett with Spock? That would be hilarious.
I would've liked to have seen that skit. :)

I'd kill to see it. It looks as if it was a surprise. I know it was done in 1967, but other than that... no ideas on what else. Though Nimoy's holding a glass of (presumably) water. I think it wasn't rehearsed from the look on her face, heh.

I can't recall the show at the moment, but I remember reading that on a contemporary series filming in an adjacent soundstage at the same studio, one of the characters was supposed to open a door and register surprise at what he saw. For one take, he opened the door and saw Shatner and Nimoy in costume and full makeup; that was the take they kept and the surprise was genuine.

Nimoy appeared on episode 12 of the 1st season of the Carol Burnett Show on Dec. 4, 1967, along with Jonathan Winters and Barbara Eden. Nimoy is listed as playing "himself".

Now if only someone had a clip on YouTube... :)
