Zach Quinto insults "Star Trek" nerds and hillbillies!

As a constantly insulted Star Trek Fan I find my self deeply insulted by this insulting portrayal of Star Trek fans always being insulted.

I plan to boycott the movie, the next television series, and write a letter to Paramount over this. Heads will roll! :scream:

If you've read the WSJ interview piece linked to in this topic, you know that Zachary Quinto has once again insulted Star Trek fans:

I just felt like a nerd. I felt like I was 12 again. You look back at those pictures and you see the bowl cut. There's no question I was born to play the Spock role.

The clear and unmistakable association here is between Spock - probably the greatest role ever written in the English language for any actor - and prepubescent nerds.

How dare he! Further, when asked what Leonard Nimoy told him about playing Spock, he answered:

It's been such an indelible mark on his life and he's metabolized it so gracefully. We spent some time watching episodes but it was an all encompassing experience. We'd go to his house. We'd meet sometimes at Paramount. I'm seeing him before the holidays. He's an advanced mind and heart and I want to hang out with him as much as possible.

Clearly, he can't remember a single thing that Nimoy said. Now, that may be understandable, as their meetings apparently consisted entirely of watching old "Star Trek" episodes and probably having Nimoy show him nude photographs of Rosie O'Donnell's cousins. Doubtless Quinto has blocked that trauma from his mind. He's dissin' us nonetheless.

All of that said...what is unforgivable to me, personally, is Quinto's equation of bowl haircuts with being a "nerd." My family is from West Virginia; I received my first bowl haircut at the age of three - years before I owned a pair of shoes (or any other real clothing, for that matter). We were people of modest means, yes; many of us were denied the modern conveniences of running water, regular dental care, higher education and exogamy - but we were hillbillies, damn it, and despite my own fall (the fatal folly of changing the channel during WVVA Bluefield's weeking wrestling match and discovering "Star Trek" - it's not fair of Quinto to tar the rest of my family with the broad brush of "trekkie!"

One vote here for Post Of The Week.

:guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

Clearly Quinto knows nothing about hillbillies.

It is impossible to cut a bowl haircut with a hunting knife. EVERYONE knows that.

Polaris is having a break down trying to hold Star Trek XI together all by himself. Let's help him, God damn it. I'm a trekkie and damn proud of it.

I can see the next TV series: The Starfleet Hillbillies

McCoy's ancestors strike dilithium on their land and are instantly rich. The whole family, from Granny to Little Len, move to San Francisco and buy a starship. They fly around the galaxy, having madcap adventures and eating road kill.

So, on which deck is the "cee-ment pond"?

So, on which deck is the "cee-ment pond"?

I would so watch that.

We need to boycott the next Star Trek movie, stop buying anything from Paramount, and boycott anything with a zero in it to show we mean business!

Well can we get a picture of Judd Clampett in a star trek uniform or what? Can you believe the guy is still alive?

Aw, crap! My keyboard is all wet from all the spit takes.

Damn you all and Zach Quinto's horse!!:klingon::klingon::klingon:

:)
