Tentative Covers & Descriptions for Upcoming Summer 2009 Trek Books

Re: Tentative Covers & Descriptions for Upcoming Summer 2009 Trek Book

You know, if I had a premium membership, I would totally change my custom title to "Author Sycophant," just because.

Do you need your shoes shined today, Mr. DeCandido?
No, but the toilet's backed up again. Do something about that, would you please?

Re: Tentative Covers & Descriptions for Upcoming Summer 2009 Trek Book

  • Spring 2010 to be for "classic Gene Roddenberry Star Trek".
  • Sadly, some delays - Seven Deadly Sins is delayed until March 2010

Yay! and Crap! in that order

And Double-crap that the Crucible reprint is deep-sixed as I actually wanted to get that!

Re: Tentative Covers & Descriptions for Upcoming Summer 2009 Trek Book

Some Promising things ahead, disappointing news regarding the delay to myriad universe 3. Looking forward to the continuation of the 24th century storyline, although after the events of Destiny its a bit hard to swallow the idea of the Titan being sent back on its mission of exploration considering whats going on back home.

Can't wait for Treason, it cannot come soon enough, & I hope there will not be a 3 year wait for its follow up

Do what KRAD does: put a Yeats quote in front of it, give it a title, and turn it in to an editor. :D

This is addressed at the beginning of Over a Torrent Sea.

If anything, the events of the Destiny trilogy prove that sending the Titan and its sister ships back out on missions of exploration is a better for the Federation than keeping them at home.

After all, it was the fact that the Titan was out there continuing its mission of exploration even during the Borg invasion that led to them making contact with Erika Hernandez and the Caeliar, which of course was the key to ending the Borg permanently. The lesson: Don't inhibit acts of exploration, because you never know when they'll yield results that will save your butt.

Just a quick follow-up to note that if the mess is too big to fit in one manuscript, do what I did and call it a trilogy. :)

Except instead of sycophants, it's other authors who have to clean that shit up...

Re: Tentative Covers & Descriptions for Upcoming Summer 2009 Trek Book

Yeah, I don't know about that...

There are a few author sycophants here at times.

Noticing that someone's right hardly makes you a sycophant.

It doesn't matter who was right about the book schedule. I didn't like how the swearing and insults by the one poster were somehow justified by the second just because he was right about the book scheduling. usually moderators warn people for saying things like he said.

The first thing every tie-in writer gets with a contract is a mop. Welcome to the show, bub. :)

Well, it is an improvement from the toothbrush I was forced to use after the first SNW sale. And that I had to provide myself.

I'm sorry, but the poster was being completely irrational. He deserved it.

I wouldn't define completely irrational as not understanding book publishing schedules.
I've seen people warned for much less than what William Leisner said. I just thought it was a rude way to speak to another member of the board.

No, but I would define completely irrational as insisting that there's never going to be another Romulan War book just because one book about it carries the title The Romulan War.

Re: Tentative Covers & Descriptions for Upcoming Summer 2009 Trek Book

Nardpuncher, for better or worse, strong language isn't against board rules. Flaming and trolling are, however. Having read the post in question a few times, while I might agree that it was a bit more vicious than necessary, it was not a personal attack on the original poster. So, no warning.

William Leisner, This part of your post: "...so let's give the whiny pessimistic bullshit a rest, 'kay?" is border-line trolling. Seriously, you shouldn't let what people say on the internet get to you so much. So, again, no warning, but consider this a friendly to please ease up a bit.

Re: Tentative Covers & Descriptions for Upcoming Summer 2009 Trek Book

Let's bring this thread back on topic, shall we? :D

Now titled "Myriad Universe: Shattered Light," it will contain three novellas, including a TNG story by David R. George, and a Sulu story by Scott Pearson.
The authors of the third one weren't mentioned in the article for some reason, but it has since been announced that the story will be written by Steve Mollmann and myself. This is the Sulu story that got attributed to Scott.

Technically, that's not really on topic, since Shattered Light won't be out until summer 2010 . . .
