Lego Star Wars - Stuck on Dagobah

I had a hard time with this on the PS2, and now, on the complete PS3, I think its actually gotten harder! I know what must be done : Luke, using Yoda's aid, must lower two tall mushrooms, so that Artoo can rocket from one to the other, accessing a gate that only he can open. The problems arise in trying to actually do this.

First of all, the damned bats. Usually, the game has some sort of angle you can face, or at least a power brick-extra that can aid you when being attacked while trying to do a task. No such luck here, and the damned bats regenerate within a seriously stupidly short amount of time. Worse still, Luke and Yoda will wander away to fight the bats after you switch to Artoo, and I'd swear that the switch-character distance has changed in this version as well. Needless to say, the mushrooms start rising again before Artoo (who also starts to wander when not being played) can even hope of getting to the second one. The fact that the character-switch is also used here for Yoda's aid of Luke also throws off my timing to the point of insanity, because when I try to switch to Artoo, Yoda separates and if he's nearby(which he always is), the hook-up occurs again. I barely pulled this off on the PS2, and even early on, I managed to get Artoo onto the 2nd Mushroom, which he invariably slid off. Even the GameFAQ's only mention this level's difficulty and its basic solution.

I'm begging here. Is there some duh trick I'm just missing?

It's just a timing thing, nothing fancy. Just keep at it and you'll eventually get it. I've completed over 60% of the game and I've completed all of the movies and the bounty hunter missions.

I got frustrated a couple of times on the Dagobah levels.

The worst is the pod race on the original game which is in the bonus room on the complete saga. You have to be flawless.

Now, see, there's the thing. That one was rough, but I got it eventually. The same amount of time and patience on Dagobah yielded little on the PS2, and nothing on the PS3. So far.

First, kill the set of three bats. Lower one mushroom, wait a few seconds to take into account hover time, then lower the second mushroom. Switch to R2, board the first mushroom, hover to the second after the first rises back up, then hover to the droid switch. Make sure you're using Yoda, not Luke, when you use the Force. Being older and wiser, he's much faster with it.

If you're still needing help with this or any other game, I suggest GameFAQs.

So you can control Yoda alone? I thought he had to be 'joined' with Luke. If so, that changes everything.

Yes, Yoda can be controlled alone. That is also essential for getting the X-Wing out of the swamp at the end of the level.

I have finally purchased all of the characters (except the ghosts) and my only beef is they have every bounty hunter except for Zuckuss! Classic game, but come on, how come no Zuckuss? :)

Is Dagobah the horrible swamp place?

If so, I also hated that level. And for some reason, I had more trouble with it in The Complete Saga than I did on PS2.

I've tried all the available GameFAQ's for this one, I'll try ones on prior versions. But Yoda cannot be used independently of Luke, and their joining plus the infinite ten-second bats makes the timing on this ridiculous.

I usually play on free play, so I apologize about the controlling Yoda bit. The bats should not be that much of an issue, though. They come in a group of three. Unless you take a really long time dispatching them, you should have enough time to Force the platforms and switch to R2 before they appear. Try jump slashes or a double jump ground stab to take them out more quickly.

One more thought occurred to me. Does adaptive difficulty affect anything but your stud loss when you die? If it does, try turning it off.

I currently have all 'extras' save the 6X Score, Regenerate Hearts and Minikit Detector. I saw a playthrough on YouTube, so I guess I just have to razor down my timing til this takes.

This one and the snow slide in Batman Lego are hard to reconcile with a game that's otherwise light and enjoyable. I can't believe they amended the pod-race but not this.
