Paterson Joseph - black actor - tipped as Tennant's replacement

If the "people in the know" are to be believed it's a case of right colour, wrong actor. Chiwetel Ejiofor is supposed to have officialy signed on as of today.

Take with a large handful of salt, naturally.

Never heard of him. Got a youtube clip or something?

Because of this thread, the wife and I bought Neverwhere on DVD, and it was EXCELLENT. So even if Paterson Joseph isn't the new Doctor Who (he was incredible in Neverwhere, as were the other actors) we at least got exposed to a new series we'd have never found on our own. Win-win, I say.

So tell me about this Chiwetel Ejiofor...and how the heck do you pronounce his name? :)

where is the Chiwetel Ejiofor rumour coming from?

anyone see the ending of Survivors tonight?

Yeah, definitely could impact on Who...

As for Chiwetel Ejiofor, I think he'd be good, but much as I want a somewhat more sedate Doctor I could see him being a bit too sedate. I'm not sure how big a film/stage career he has but I imagine he's in demand so would he tie himself to an ongoing BBC series? And if he did, for how long?

I'd still rather have Patterson but think Chiwetel Ejiofor would be a better choice than Colin Salmon as a black Doctor (but I still think it should be the best man for the job above any other considerations, which still leaves Patterson in the #1 spot for me, though I'd love it if Nighy were given a chance and still think Alexander Siddig would be great too.)

actually ive said this before (& I think it was here) given that he wont start until next years christmas episode (with only a couple of minutes of screentime) he could do another series of Survivors before it gets in the way of him doing Who, so the cliffhanger doesn't actually mean as much as we might think, but it is still interesting.

Well in relation to the cliffhanger...

He was shot but it was shoulder releated giving him a chance of survival...gives them a good get out if he did leave.

I agree it could go either way

Okay, I don't think Patterson Joseph will be the next doctor, but I was inspired by someone's attempt in another thread to show PJ in the midst of a regeneration.

It was easy enough to find an appropriate head shot from "The Parting of the Ways," but not quite so easy to get the coloring right to blend into the existing cap of Tennant. I suppose his head still looks a bit "glued on", but there you have it. :D

I'm glad it helped someone, somewhere... :techman:

While infinitely better than mine, wamdue is correct. He's kind of frightening...

I still really hope it is Paterson as Doctor 11. Rewatched Neverwhere again. Really getting my hopes up...:)

Paterson Joseph? No. No, it isn't. And I'm okay with that. I haven't much liked his acting in anything I've seen him in (though I haven't seen the Gaiman thing).
