In DWM #402, they show the odds of bookie favorites to pick up the mantle of the Doctor. Christopher Eccleston is shown as having 40-1 odds. I suppose that also translates to "not a chance in hell", but wouldn't that be cool if a new season of Doctor Who went back for more adventures of a past Doctor? Imagine, a new season of 9/Rose adventures! Or, if Billie's still busy being a Call Girl, you could have 9 on his own or with a pre-Rose companion. Dare I suggest a Time War series with 9?
I guess it would be a bit tricky when it comes to the point where Eccleston wants to leave (again) and it's time to finally jump ahead to the 11th Doctor. You'd probably have to have a stand-alone Tennant episode so he could finally regenerate into 11.
Ah, one can dream, but it would still be "fantastic!".
(While we're having fanciful dreams, even though Paul McGann wasn't among the actors listed, we could go further back and have an 8th Doctor series! Why rush 11!)
