Here in Britain if you go to KFC you cannot choose specific pieces of KFC chicken.
So if you want 5 pieces of original recipie you get what they give you.
I love Drumsticks and would love to be able to just buy a bucket full.

I love KFC but that can get really annoying. The holy grail is the breast with just the simple piece of cartilage to deal with. Recently a friend and I both got a burger meal that came with a piece of chicken and the pieces were so disproportionate that we had to toss a coin to see who got which meal.

^ Yes.
I think I have identified 4 (possibly 5) different pieces:

The Breast
(^Yes the Holy Grail, total score if you get this!
Lots of chicken however the trade off is you dont get much greasy "batter":()

The Thigh?
Quite good with a large meat content.

The "Drumstick"
Not the highest meat content but my fave.:)

The "Carcase"
(Possibly 2 versions of this?)
A meagre amount of chicken on the ribcage

Have I missed anything?

I prefer roast chicken. Still, if Top is letting us make free & easy with her breast & leg.... ;)

(oh what? I can't make one joke in the "bird part = body part" genre? It's the season for it!)

Fried Chicken is absolutely amazing. Just as long as it's not KFC. Thankfully there's at least two or three places in my town where you can get good fried chicken. Add in some coleslaw and some jojos and you've got a fantastic meal.

The drumsticks are my favorite, too! Generally the best you can do over here in the US is getting dark meat (legs and thighs), but when I go to KFC I can generally convince them to give me three legs. :D

I love both KFC and Popeyes, and a place in the midwest called Brown's. I don't know if they're a chain though or just in the Chicago area. So good!

Roast chicken is good, but I know I can bring you over to the fried side. :D

You can start by letting me nibble on a bit of your breast. :shifty: :D

This thread has reminded me that I used to make fried chicken with my mother. She had her very own "secret blend of herbs & spices" & it was pretty damn good. I just wish she wrote the recipe down somewhere before she died...

I like sandwiches with mushrooms, refried beans, chunky sauce and a side of minestrone soup.

Oh yes homemade fried chicken is the best, with a good sized helping of coleslaw mashed potatoes and gravy....oh yes and corn on the cob...soooo goooooood. MMMMMMMM

Seriously, is there anythng bette r than Fried Chicken?? Or are you one of those health food nuts who wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole? I love fried chicken. It makes me happy and i love it.

So who is with me? And who fears its greasy goodness? Speak now or forever hold your grizzle. ;)

I haven't eaten fried chicken in 10 years or more. I eat a lot of the skinless, un-breaded, un-fried stuff though.

RAMA

So long as I'm allowed to do the same to your leg... ;)

EWWWWWWWWW!!!! Why, jkladis, why??? :scream: :scream: :scream: Do not bring up such disgusting things in my beautiful thread. :p :scream:

Guess what I had for dinner, people??? That's right!!! Brown's Chicken!!!! Three legs and fries. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.... :D

I like fried chicken, but "The Best Thing Ever"? No. That would be pizza.

That said...a chicken chain that hasn't been mentioned but I consider excellent...Churches. I could eat a case of their nuggets in one sitting, and not because they're so small (they're really not)...

I love fried chicken. Unfortunately, I had Kentucky Fried Chicken today. It used to be so good when I was little. Now not so much. The person above who said it was expensive isn't kidding. All I got was 1 breast, 1 wing and a medium Dew (not even a brick.. er biscuit) and the price was $6.03. Ridiculous.
Popeye's is much better but the last time I went there the drumsticks were so small that they looked like drumettes instead.

Greasy Goodness! But you must wash it down with a glass of sweet tea, or it just ain't the same, my dears...

MmmmMmmm. Bojangles' is the finest fried chicken here in North Carolina, in my opinion, and the sweet tea they serve is perfect southern cold, sweet, golden goodness. Yum.

Yeah, I'm all about being healthy and skinless fillets are great, but once in a while I crave that crunchy, deep fried skin.

Forget all that restaurant chicken. Homemade is the only way to go. Soak that chicken overnight in some buttermilk, fry it up nice and crisp, then make some white gravy for the mashed potatoes.

Yum, yum, yum.

Popeye's is the BEST! Oh, and their biscuits are to DIE for. I think I know what I'm having for supper tonight!

ETA: I actually voted "I can take it or leave it." I enjoy fried chicken, but it's not something I crave on a regular basis. Still, after reading this thread, my leftover pizza lunch has lost its appeal.
