Favorite NON-"headliner" super team

By which I mean disqualifying the "big guns" like the Avengers and the Justice League.

I favor the New Warriors (original team). They were the "street team" that kept it real whereas groups like the Avengers and the X-Men were dealing with "issue" threats and "cosmic menaces from beyond". The Warriors were about that street gang on the next block, or the drug operation two streets over. They also showcased some VERY interesting characters that never quite made the big time (mostly due to stupidity at Marvel Editorial).

In DC, I loved Young Justice. PAD at his finest, and one of the few books that I could handle being half-a-degree above pure slapstick.

For me, it's currently Dynamo 5 from Image. Just a good old-fashioned team book with a lot of "ole' school" fun and a literal sense of family.

One team that I really loved during the '90s was Generation X (back when Terry & Rachel Dodson were doing the art chores and my favorite character was still alive).

Thunderbolts, hands down. The Osborn-headed version, that is.

Care to elaborate? I found Osborne's T-bolts not much more than a sanctioned VILLAIN team. Then again, that's the Initative in a nutshell...

The originals were villains, sure, but they were learning to be heroes...that's what was so cool about them.

Under Ellis, they were tremendously entertaining; he knows how to bring characters like Green Goblin and Bullseye viscerally to life, and seeing them all sharing space with remaining goody-goodies like Songbird was a fascinating pressure-cooker.

The Defenders, because they consisted of non-team player prima donna's, second stringers and nobodies. It was the closest thing to a real working environment...

I'm probably misremembering.

West Coast Avengers were similar. Iron Man was a headliner, though.

Remember JLA when it was Martian Manhunter and a bunch of new "kids" no one cared about? Vixen, Gypsy (shoeless hero who isn't a martial artist!), Vibe...others I forget.
