Deja Vu

Hey y'all, I consider this movie a sci-fi film. I just saw Denzel Washington's Deja Vu. I know it is like 2 or more years old, but I knew nothing about it before.
spoilers if you haven't seen it.

I thought it was amazing! Apparently, this movie takes place as the 4th timeline in series of Denzel Washington interfering with the timeline. It apparently took him 4 times to get it right. but I didn't figure it out until I started reading about it online. How is a normal movie goer supposed to figure it out without researching it?

any thoughts?

I've seen this movie, and enjoyed it, but I thought it was only his second time around. How do you figure it's his fourth?

I found it in wikipedia ;)

The first timeline did not involve the the death of the girl at all. But he sent the note back, resulting in the death of his partner and the girl. The second time he sends the note and goes back and does the laser pointer thing.
In the third the same except he saves her the first time only to leave her at her house and the guy comes and kills her anyway, so he creates the 4th timeline which is what we see in the movie...

The dress she is wearing when she is found dead is also a clue.

I waited for DVD to watch this movie because of the horrible reviews but loved it when I finally saw it, so I ended up buying it. I thought it was a great, thought-provoking, exciting scifi-action film, and managed to work Tony Scott's often annoying overuse of camera tricks into the storyline effectively for a change.

I think I've seen this film, it sounds familiar
;)
