Tell us about your presents!

More or less she took my shoe-laces as a practical joke one day so I "got" her back by taking HER shoe-laces to put in MY shoes.

Damn woman out-smarted me because her good "work" shoes don't lace up at all damn it.

Anyway, those three pairs of shoes I stole the laces from have been sitting there since spring without laces, so I got her three new sets of laces.

Edit: to clarify she tied the laces from MY shoes into knots so they were unusable, that's why I never returned the ones I stole from her.

...nothing strange or kinky or anything like that. Of course that WAS what you were hoping for wasn't it? Some kind of degenerate "shoe-lace" bondage kink story? :D

Well yes. Of course.

But I'll take the insight into the lace-oneupmanship in your relationship instead. :D

It turns out I got NBA league pass, Dr. Horrible, Blade Runner, Superman Returns, three shirts, a conservative book (blech), and a really nice light jacket. It was my 21st birthday as well which is the reason for so much stuff.

I always thought kids who were born on Christmas Day got screwed over present-wise. I had a classmate in junior high born on Christmas- I asked her if she got cheated out of presents. She said, "No, I'm Jewish!"

What book was it? Depending on what it is, if you don't like it, you may be able to take it to a used book store and get some credit towards something more up your alley.

Yeah, that's true, I've been gathering a bunch of books to sell anyways. Thanks for the suggestion. The book is called Dead Heat, by the way. It looks like I can get at least $4 online.

I got a GPS, four new suits, and I still have one more gift that I was told I have to wait until tomorrow to open up.

Since I couldn't edit (been too long) I thought I'd quote:

My parents took over my Truck Payment (2009 Dodge Ram) until I get a new job (my position was terminated due to budget cuts). That was the gift I couldn't open until Christmas - it was a check for the amount due.

Don't recognize that one...but you're welcome--I hope that helps!

Anyway, here's the Christmas shopping I did today...I think I'll order a few more things from Barnes & Noble, but this is the vast majority of what I was planning to do.

From my parents and various peoples:

-Two signed baseballs by Red Sox players Jason Bay and Mike Lowell.
-Three very nice framed and matted photos. One of Dustin Pedroia, one of Josh Beckett, and then one of Josh Beckett, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Curt Schilling and Jonathan Papelbon. I have had a collection of sports memorabilia going on for many years now, and every year my parents generously buy me some sports stuff.
-Two McFarlane Red Sox action figures, Curt Schilling and Jonathan Papelbon.
-An Office T-Shirt.
-A Red Sox sweatshirt.
-The new official Red Sox cap.
-Mystery Science Theater Collection 2 and the Twentieth Anniversary Collection.
-A ROWSDOWER! T-Shirt that only my mother would find.
-The Dark Knight DVD.
-The Star Trek Pez Collectable set.
-Various odds and ends things, a new calender, some new paintbrushes, a few gift cards.

My mother has a sixth sense of being able to find things I would not normally think of getting, but I would love anyway.

I got my mother a nice set of paintbrushes (she is an artist), and my father a Newberry Comics gift card. For my best friend, I got her "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich". She is a doesn't come across as one, but she is a real history buff and a book worm, so I thought she would like it.

:rommie: This was my gift to myself this year!

I got a Nintendo DS with a game
A homemade scarf/hat combo set
A lovely store bought scarf
lots of chocolate
A brick of Artisan soap in lavender scent.

a Toronto Maple Leafs long sleeve t-shirt. She's trying to convert me, but it's not likely to happen.

Ah, the one thing that's easier to make fun of then Toronto, the Toronto Maple Leafs!

Indeed! There's no chance in hell of me converting to a Leafs fan, either, even if I live in Toronto the rest of my life. The two teams I do follow both have strong rivalries with the Leafs: Ottawa and Philadelphia. My hatred of blue is too deep rooted. :p

Okay, my little sister, whom I have seen only twice in the last 9 years, sent me a bunch of thoughtful little gifts. One of which was this soccer jersey I wore for my youth team in 1981, which she stole from me and wore every now and then when she was a teenager. I have this photo of me from that season wearing the shirt, sporting a bloody nose, that my late father took, and it's one of my favorite pictures.

I wanted the Trek Pez set but couldn't find one. :(

I spent my Borders gift card already. I bought a beading calendar- one of those page-a-days with a project each week, and a beading techniques book.

I had the dreaded lunch with my parents today. Here's what they got me.

From my mother:

- a sweater (which miraculously fits despite being two sizes too small according to the label - it's a medium, and I typically wear XL)
- a 2009 daytimer
- a wallet
- a $25 gift card from Chapters/Indigo (a bookstore chain)

From my father:

- a cordless phone
- a $60 gift card from Future Shop (an electronics/DVD/music chain)

I'm not sure what I'll do with the daytimer (as I have a Palm PDA) and the phone (as I bought a new cordless phone back in the spring, when my old phone gave up the ghost). Oh, well.

I used the gift cards to get First Among Sequels by Jasper Fforde, Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher and season 4 of Lost. I must say, it worked out well - I have 12 cents left on the Future Shop card and 49 cents left on the Chapters/Indigo card. :D

Lets see, I got: 4 30 round PMAGs for my M4, GI tritium compass, COD for the Wii, DS9 Season 1 (I only need one more season to have the whole series) a shirt, and a Hornady LocnNLoad AP press, calipers, powder scale, and case tumbler to make my own ammunition. The best present was watching my kids in the morning.

Some Blu-Rays:
Dark Knight
LA Confidential
Shining
Clockwork Orange
Robocop

Stargate SG-1 season 4
LEGO Star Wars set
Optimus Prime Transformer
Yoda bobblehead
Star Trek Pez set (to go with my Star Wars one)

Pre-X-Mas gifts:
HDTV
MST3K 20th Anniversary Set
James Bond Blu-Ray sets 1 and 2

I got a sweater from one of my cousins and her husband.

I didn't ask why their two kids that I usually exchange gifts with didn't give me anything. One of them I even give gifts to his young sons every year. It's not like they're scraping the bottom of the barrel because they're all involved with some seasonal rental apartments that stayed full all summer and a business that has a contract to make plumbing repairs in all the local branches of a well known chain of convenience stores.

I got a Kevlar vest.
