Anyone else have Chinese food today?

Influenced by "A Christmas Story" ? My family has been doing this for about three or four years, now. We love the film so much and frankly.... we enjoy relaxing all Christmas Day. So it makes sense to eat out if possible, and since everyone likes some kind of Chinese dish... it all works out well. When I ordered ours this evening, I chatted up the girl behind the counter, apologizing that she had to work today. She said Christmas Day is actually their busiest day of the year, so they don't mind one bit.

Unfortunately, since I'm home visiting family, my usual awesome, just-around-the-corner Chinese takeout place is about 300 km away. :(

Love me the Chinese food, but today was a traditional HAM dinner...and, honestly, it was the BEST ham I've eaten in my life. Just perfect. Wow!

I usually have it Christmas Eve, but we had it a couple of days early :techman:

"The duck...he's smiling at me!"

I wish I was. I love me some Chinese food.

Closest I'll be getting will be feeding the locak asian population since
I work at Denny's and its also open on Christmas. :klingon:

Asian folk really seem to love t-bones for some reason.

Not this year, although I loves me some good buffet food and egg drop soup.

I got leftovers from Luby's (parents' idea) and a Southern cooking style place, so I'm good through tomorrow. :techman:

CHOP! :guffaw: Great scene. "Chinese turkey"!

My family had the usual X-mas dinner of smoked turkey, wild boar ham, buffalo, and assorted German style sides. But when I do my post Christmas shopping (hurray for gift cards, Christmas money, and sales!), I'll probably stop by Panda Express for lunch. :p

My pastor and his wife always have Chinese for their Christmas dinner. I think they're too tired to do anything else after running five Christmas Eve services!

Chinese on Christmas is a something of a Jewish tradition, but my family was just too lazy to go out today.
I have heard this in a couple of places today. Does anyone know the backstory on this tradition?

Maybe it has to do with them being the only places open on Christmas? My family used to occasionally have Chinese food on Christmas for that reason. It kinda sucks to have everything closed for a holiday you don't celebrate, but it's just one day.

Well, we went to a Chinese restaurant last night...
They had a special menu for Christmas like last year...
It was very nice...
It was the first time i ate snail...
Rather interesting taste and texture...

Not on Christmas, but I always have Chinese food on New Year's Eve; hopefully accompanied by a Stooges Marathon.

My family usually goes to dinner and a movie (something funny) on New Year's Eve, unless there's a party to go to. Our favorite restaurant just closed (:(), so maybe we'll try Chinese this year!
