I love Walmart. I've shopped there for 10 years and I estimate that, because of their low prices, I've saved over $1000.
$1000 over 10 years.
Wow. That's... not really a whole lot.
Paid for my trip to Hawaii. Thank you, Walmart!

If people don't like where they work, then they should quitI never ceased to be amazed at the sheer level of hate that can be leveled at a company that has done nothing to its detractors.
Seems to be doing plenty to the poor slaves who WORK there, though. Have you even read that Wake Up site?

The employees at the Walmart here look fucking miserable. Most of them seem slightly mentally handicapped, so I guess it's good that they're able to work, but you can tell they're unhappy. Half of them look like they belong in a circus act. We even have a Bearded Lady!
The clientele looks like they would shank you in the parking lot. I am honestly surprised every time I find my car NOT broken into when I exit the store.
The only reason I even go is because it's 2 minutes from my apartment.

I don't know where in the hell most of you people live, but good Lord, our Wal-Mart here is nothing like that.

As someone else said upthread, I do not understand the irrational hatred people have for places such as Wal-Mart. I guess it's just what we do these days. Hate Wal-Mart. Hate Microsoft. Hate Sony. Hate any successful company or business.

Exactly. The economy isn't exactly allowing people the opportunity to be picky these days.If people don't like where they work, then they should quitSeems to be doing plenty to the poor slaves who WORK there, though. Have you even read that Wake Up site?![]()
People don't always have a choice. What if no one else in the area is hiring? What do you suggest these people do, live on the street?

I think these people would beg to differ. The workers there aren't slaves.
But then again, if you actually *like* having unaffordable health insurance, being forced to work off the clock and/or denied breaks which you are entitled to under state labor laws, being LOCKED IN THE FUCKING STORE if you're working a graveyard shift, etc., then who am I to judge?![]()
I once answered the phone in Walmart's paint department because it rang about 12 times without an actual employee picking it up. The customer service is fucking awful there.I think that I'm the only person in the world that doesn't have problems with Wal-Mart, though my local Wal-Mart's both win awards every year for customer service.
But sending that man away was just wrong.

But you couldn't pay me to step foot in Missouri ever again, so![]()

See, this is the problem. By forcing suppliers to cut them special deals and other shady business practices, Walmart forces their competitors out of business. So that means that when people look for jobs, the competitors who could (theoretically) offer them better wages and working conditions are out of business, and pretty much the only store in town is Walmart. So the only employer is Walmart.
