I haven't had a bath in more than 6 months

Showers feel so rushed and if you aren't directly under the stream of water, they're chilly. I can't relax while standing; I have to be lounging.

So much hate for the bath. Wow.
I take showers to clean myself. It is not meant for recreation.

They should take no longer that 5 minutes.

I'm glad I don't have that attitude because I would be cheating myself of a simple and fine pleasure in life, as well as a one of my only opportunities for much-needed mental restoration. Bathing and showering mean much more than the perfunctory chore of cleaning oneself; amongst the other functions they fulfill are the opportunities to de-stress and provide privacy, from the demands of life.

If I emerge from a shower/bath without such refreshment, then I have failed one of the most important objectives of the bathing ritual.

Prehaps my attitude and practice is borne of my thick head of hair. 5 minutes in a shower wouldn't even get me past the shampoo lather stage, let alone the conditioner I have to leave in for that long and the scrubbing and shaving duties I have to perform over the rest of me.
Well, I'm a boy.

My hair is generally no more than 2 inches in length and takes 15-30 seconds to wash.

I also don't find bathing particularly stress-relieving, and I am afforded plenty of alone time throughout the rest of my day. My current roommate is a cat.

Also, shaving takes place outside of the shower, otherwise I would probably slice my neck open.

Plus, I just can't justify wasting that much water.

If I had a nice large bathtub, I might try taking baths again. It does seem like it would be relaxing to lounge around and read or something.

We have one of those standard bathtub/shower combos, and while it's adequate, it's not really something I'd care to lounge around in. Showers are faster, and sometimes baths can be more of a pain to clean up after, anyway.

I hate those standardized bath/shower installations. They are far too small and cramped for any measure of comfort, especially when you're on the tall side. When I've lived in areas with small tubs, I tend to stick more with showering, although I don't enjoy it as much. Now that this place I'm in has a large tub, my enjoyment and comfort has been taken to a new level. The luxury of this tub is disinclining me from participating in the rote functions of showering, unless I'm pressed for time.

Also, here in California most apartment buildings have put flow restrictors on their shower heads to conserve water, and the resulting weak stream can't wash all the shampoo and conditioners out of my hair. I've resorted to sticking my head under the tub faucet, so if I have to crouch down into the tub to adequately clean myself, I might as well stay down there and enjoy myself somewhat.

Baths are easier for me to clean up after because I don't have to worry about the tile way far up the wall getting sprayed by the shower head. Scrubbing the shower of hard water stains is hands down my most hated household chore, so if I can minimize the surface area affected, I'm going to prefer to do so!

Ha, I didn't realize I had so much to say on this subject.

Oh, I can imagine what that's like. I have fairly long hair right now and I feel like it takes forever to wash everything out of it, even with a fairly strong stream of water.

Somehow the idea of washing my face and hair with the same water that's in contact with my genitals doesn't strike me as a very good way to get clean.

^ Ditto. I'm the tallest person in my house, and the bathtub isn't exactly accomodating to my height. The upstairs bathroom has a tub/shower combo, but it's only used as a bath because the tile isn't waterproof ( It's original to the house, so around 30 years old.). The downstairs bath only has a shower, and that's where I prefer to bathe. Anyway, being a germ-a-phobe...the idea of sticking my naked body in a vat of water...that has touched other people's naked bodies...yeah, not exactly appealing.

I do, however, indulge in the occasional bubble bath, with a book, or some peaceful music, usually right after cleaning day. Besides allowing me to relax, it allows me to take my time to wash and moistureize/soak my skin ( excema, is a fickle bitch), which I really don't get to do in a shower. Speaking of which, I can be in and out of the shower within 10 minutes. Not unreasonable for a guy, I think.

We have a separate shower and bathtub and the tub is larger than the standard one.

The showerhead on the shower is way high up, which is great for my 6-4 husband, but it's too high up for me.

And I love a nice soak. It's calming, refreshing and with my fibromyalgia and muscular aches from it, sometimes the best way to ease those aches is not to medicate, but to soak in a hot bath. Sometimes I read while in the tub, but mostly, I relax.

To the person who said that the water gets cold. No way. My water is almost scalding and it's still hot when I'm done. If it cools a bit, I add more.

I don't have a bathtub. And unlike a certain other person in my family I won't ask my grandmother to let me take a bath in her tub whenever I visit her...

Back when I still had a bathtub I usually just had showers anyway. I took a bath maybe once every six months or so. It just seems like such a waste of water and I tend to get bored while sitting in the water.

I have a bath all the time, only occasionally shower, like when I'm in a rush to get out, or when it's been a hot, sweaty day.

Lord, its been years and years.

I kinda like the Japanese technique, where you soap and rinse yourself off, THEN get into the tub.

But sadly as others have said, at 5'11 I'm just too damn big for a regular bathtub. If I were to ever strike it rich, the first thing I'd get would be a Japanese style bathroom, with a tub that was big enough that I could actually stretch out my legs and have a nice long soak.

While we used to have a bath, we don't anymore (just four showers, one of them outdoors). So yeah, I don't take baths.

I rarely take a bath since I haven't lived a in a home with one for quite some time now. I do miss it, it's very cosy somehow.

^Same here, the only times I do take one is when I'm sick, for some reason the hot water stops me from throwing up. At any other time I hate baths, they make my face way too hot, and I don't like the idea of lying in my own filth. I much prefer a shower

I don't think I've taken a bath in over twenty years, and I doubt I'll ever take one again; Not really my thing. To be honest, I'm not even a big fan of showers, though I take two a day and sometimes three in the summer. I'm even less of a fan of feeling grimy.

I haven't bathed in years. Once i started showering, that was pretty much it. I will say though that occasionally i do miss just soaking in the tub.

I'm too tall to take a bath, or at least for it to be enjoyable. Sitting straight upright with most of your upper body out of the water and your feet and ass squeezed against both ends of the tub (or your legs all scrunched up so you can slide down a bit) isn't exactly my idea of relaxing. That's what jacuzzis are for.
