We're still digging out from about 11.5 inches of snow over two days here in eastern Iowa.

Oh, and the -30 wind chills, too.

Don't say that. We have to drive through to Chicago in two days. You'd better have it all cleaned up by then.

Chicago's not that bad. We drove back down from Michigan today, and the city was one of the best stretches. Michigan was terrible though ... we passed something like a 30-car pileup. I checked the news and they think there were about a dozen semis involved! Be careful on the roads, people!

We're still expecting more snow in Toronto before the holiday, too.

That tree looks pretty...just needs a star on top!

How much total accumulation did TO get? We got about 20 cm on Friday, and another 10 so far today  (in the 'shwa)

Good thing I'm on holidays now...I'm not going out 'till it's all cleaned up!

I'd estimate somewhere between 15 to 20 cm, and a few more overnight through today. Supposed to be some more accumulation on Tuesday, too.

That's good, though really it's Iowa we're mostly worried about. Last year was terrible after that nasty storm left so many cars in the I-80 ditch.

Plus, it is Iowa and well we all know about Iowa.

Woei! Merry Christmas!!! I have so been looking forward to this holiday! My parents did a great job decorating their living room, and I just had to shoot a photo of it. Perhaps the "moving galaxy laser lamp" was a bit overkill, but it does have an off switch... Sadly most of this holiday I will spent in a different room trying to design a spaceship.

EDIT: Just wanted to share: While typing this I realised that I always thought of myself as a person that isn't materalistic. The fact that I show this picture proofs otherwise. I'm very aware that I got too much stuff (not only christmas stuff) already, but I for some reason keep buying.... when I'm moving to my own place I really want to change that. What troubles me even more is that here in the Netherlands I dont even come close to what a lot of young people are buying without even the slightest hesitation or thought about the need of it.

Anyway I think this might be good for a new topic, for now Merry Christmas and keep posting the cat's dogs, and humans!

That is really pretty.

An illustration of why the area of Toronto called Scarborough is referred to as "Scarberia". :p

The view down from my balcony:

That's not Massey Square, is it?

I'd read 20-30 cm (according to the Globe and Mail). Lots more today (I couldn't see the stoplights at Yonge and Eglinton from a block away).

Ah that was just the tree in the middle of the drop-off area in front of my apartment building. I don't quite live in Scarborough, being on the west side of Vic Park, corner of Eglinton.

At one point today it WAS snowing pretty hard, so I went out on my balcony and took a minute of video, posted it to my Facebook page. The snow is blowing and drifting so much it's hard to tell how much there is. In some spots it's a foot and a half, in other spots just a few inches. I just came back in from walking the dog, and it doesn't really seem to me like we got that much more today.

Today was my store's last day. Everyone is now jobless as of now. We decided to have one last group pic of the employees still left, and I decided to swipe a certain sign we had still, and take a certain letter of another letter...anyway, it was a bittersweet night to say the least.

I should be able to get a new job at another Circuit City in San Francisco. It's about 50 miles away as opposed to the 10 that my former store was but I will be able to carpool. Also, I will keep looking for a closer job in the meantime. Who knows how long *that* Circuit will stay open, anyway.

Here's a couple more shots of the store in its sad, empty state.
