Hallelujah hits UK top ten, twice! One good, one terrible...

Ahh play, cool I buy 75% of my new CDs from there, i'll try that one later.
I do know they have a limited number of redownloads, but its all dependent on the record label. either way it's better than itunes which only lets you download once.

I bought it. 320kbps, only 65p, and very easy if you are already registered with Play. Seems to be better than Amazon, which is 256kbps according to their literature.
Yeah, I think I've used Play more than any others. Nice, easy service with good quality mp3s.

I miss the old days when there was a race to be Christmas number one instead of it being bought by Simon 'slime of satan' Cowell. I am glad there was a rebelion against it this year.
You know it's a them and us thing, The X-factor is watched by them and real music is made by us.

I had a look at the Top 40, I dont buy (or download) music so I dont really understand how it works now, but their are 3 Beyonce songs in it.

Obviously "If I were a boy" whilst annonying should be in their, but what about the other two (Listen & Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It))

they are actually quite alot of repeats on their.

Alexandra Burke has two songs, the other "Hero" with her the other X Factor finalists, but I guess that's not a big deal

Kings of Leon have two on the chart

Girls Aloud 2, The Promise & The Loving Kind

Rihanna has two, one featuring TI & one featuring Justin Timberlake.

what model do the downloads use, that throws up this kind of thing?

I wondered what this was all about. I've stayed away from the charts for years to find the X Factor version accidentally on YouTube. I wouldn't say dreadful, more good karaoke with very little feeling.

I have a soft spot for the Talulah Riley version from Almost Famous. No idea why...

Almost Famous is one of my favourite movies, but I don't recall "Hallelujah" being used at any point...

Anyway, my favourite version is the one by Rufus Wainwright.

It's unbelievable how many times I do that... Nearly Famous - British show that ran a series.

I mess up the title every time I say/type/think it. Other than it being a better title, I don't know why I can't keep it in my head.

^ Ahh, now it makes sense. ;)

I can see why you'd mix them up, though, they're damn similar names.

Its total sales of all downloads AND retail. It's the inclusion of downloads that has changed everything because now a song doesn't have to be in release as a single to chart. Absolutely any song available on i-tunes, amazon, play and more presumably is eligible for a chart entry. And with only a few thousand sales in a slow week needed to break the top 40 it's pretty easy to do it.
