What Would Be The Best Way To Spread The Gospel of Christ?

The only two things I've ever really done to spread the Gospel of Christ around the world was to give 300 dollars to the Memphis School of Preaching worldwide outreach program

and to design a newsletter my church sent out to people in the community inviting them to attend church with us (this was all the way back in the early 1990s when I still lived at home).

Any suggestions here that people have?

bulk him up, make him a little less effeminate? Goatee instead of the full beard? Full makeover - tan, body wax, shape those eyebrows and the sandals are sooo sixties. Get him a pair of Sketchers and he's in like Flynn, baby!

And those miracles? No one likes a show-off...

I'd say not annoying other people by trying to push your beliefs on them would be a good start.

Well, Christians are pretty much told to try to spread their beliefs in the New Testament.

Though you have a point if you are suggesting that a "soft sell" might be more productive than a "hard sell".

^No, I think the point he's trying to make (which I whole-heartedly agree with) is keep your religion to yourself. It's not your job to "save" me, or anyone else.

I still hold to the belief that living your life in a gracious, helpful and joyful manner is the best way. Helping people out, even those you disagree with, is the best way to make impression. It's a better way than shouting Fire & Brimstone as people walk by. I work with a woman who lives her life this way, always flooring people with her kindness and generosity. When she talks (by talk, I mean talking about an activity she has coming up, or about someone she met there, but more often than not, they ask) about church, the Bible or anything of that ilk, people listen and respond. The rapport she's develop with people makes these discussions a conversation, allowing exploration and genuine answers. People don't clam up and run away. Spreading the gospel is the same as organizing any other type of political or social movement: relationships, not shouting from the rooftops hoping somebody listens. How this simple fact is missed by some in the Christian community is beyond me. They make the rest of us look like intolerant assholes, decidedly the opposite reaction we want to evoke.

Become the official state religion of a totalitarian superpower.

Then outlaw your competitors and destroy their places of worship.

Like you did the first time.

"History knows of no revolution so violent and unsparing as that of Theodosius."--Jules Michelet (1862)

Jesus needs a sidekick, either a monkey or a kid. Although the monkey might be a tough sell to the Creationists.

Speaking cost effectively, direct mail and newspaper classified ads are the way to go.

Hmmm...it just occurred to me. Proselytizers are pretty much human spam.

man, tough crowd :-P

I am a christian, when it comes to spreading the word, I let the opportunities come to me rather than force the issue. If I'm doing a group outreach, I back off if it's obvious the person doesn't want to hear what I have to say.

It's all about repect and stuff, and your own personal choices. I can't make you believe in anything, even though I might be sad that you won't experience what I have experienced with Jesus.

So. The best way to spread the gospel: let people be people. If they want it, they'll go for it. if they don't...that's too bad, but you can't do anything about it but pray.

Even then, it's all about that person's choice.

and yea, christians are pretty offensive :-)

Try and understand that it is not your place to judge another human being, that's God's job. If someone want to learn your religion, then fine. But you can't go around acting like everyone needs to pray in the same way. Show kindness, and love, and let people make their own choices.

God gave us free will so that we could use it, win or lose.

The best way?
To prove a gospel really is the blessed truth by living it, instead of just preaching it. Words are cheap.

No one loves a good suicide live on the news, screaming Jesus all the way to damnation, like the masses do.

For all you Negative Nellies out there, could you not read the thread title? You didn't have to enter did you? You are being rude to this poor individual. They are asking a simple question directed toward (presumably) other believers. Sarcasm and hatred won't do anybody any good regardless of their (non)belief system. Now for my response...

"Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, strength, and mind. And love your neighbor as yourself. On this hangs all the law and the prophets."

I think Jesus said that.
