Hallelujah hits UK top ten, twice! One good, one terrible...

Hey I like X factor. I think Alexandra did a better job than JLS. thank god she won.

The way the final was biased towards making her win was so blatant it was embarassing. Plus she is simply average, a bland and non descript singer.

Buckley's cover of Hallelujah is one of my all-time favourites. He was an absolutely astonishing musician.

I'm just listening to the different versions on we7.com, and I think my favourite is Rufus Wainwright's version. But listening to Jeff Buckley's I like that too. I might join in and buy it, just to put my money with the non-x-factor version .

The TOGs have peaked too soon this time. Should have waited to download Drummer Boy in their masses next week. Tel will be off the top spot in favour of the X factor by Christmas.

they bought the record out one week too early to be a serious contender for Christmas No1. It has already charted (at 3 if I recall) chances are it will be at least Top 7 this week.

Its not a bad effort on his part, but I guess they never saw the point of trying to compete with XFactor for the Christmas No 1.

I hate to sound contrarian, but I'll always enjoy John Cale's version of "Hallelujah," which appeared on I'm Your Fan and directly influenced Jeff Buckley, to Buckley's cover of it.

The version on Cohen Live trumps all of them, though.

You weren't the first. :D

Now I don't think I've heard that one yet.

Well she was better than JLS. I wanted Ruth to win personally.

And what do you expect you are Simon Cowell you need to hype your winning contestant up so that when her record is released next year you milk it for all it is worth.

I'm so sick of shows like the X Factor putting out mediocre music and rubbish television.

Been a Jeff Buckley fan when I first heard his cover of hallelujah years ago. I'll be over the moon if it got the Christmas number one.

They were saying on the news this morning that it might actually be in with a chance of stealing the top slot off the X-Factor slop.

I may break my no mp3 rule and install i-tunes to DL the Buckley version tonight, even though I already own the album. To see a rampantly commercial load of shite cover, by a reality TV show winner to be beaten to Xmas no.1 by a version of the same track that wasn't even in official release as a single might just be too funny to pass up.

Just go to amazon or play and download the straight MP3 version with no DRM, I think it's like 65p on play. I am thinking about it myself.

Actually, Simon had been hyping his own act, the irish kid all through the competition, as the best thing there was, only to completely drop him in teh final and hype up Alex.

The problem I had with the hyping up is that it was so obvious that she wasnt that good, she is not "world class" or anything of the sort.

It was a very boring final with 3 very average acts.

When i'm googling i'm finding a lot of murmuring that Amazon sales may not yet be eligible for the charts. Probably nonsense, but i'm going to use i-tunes just in case since the one and only reason I am buying it is for the chart position.

Well I guess since Amazon only just started they might not be reporting yet, but surely play.com must be... the only time I want to use iTunes is when there's no other choice.

Ahh play, cool I buy 75% of my new CDs from there, i'll try that one later.
I do know they have a limited number of redownloads, but its all dependent on the record label. either way it's better than itunes which only lets you download once.

I wondered what this was all about. I've stayed away from the charts for years to find the X Factor version accidentally on YouTube. I wouldn't say dreadful, more good karaoke with very little feeling.

I have a soft spot for the Talulah Riley version from Almost Famous. No idea why...

Yeah I agree the whatever the kids name would not have sold so he banked on Alexandra. She is no where near Leona IMO. I get goosebumps when I watch her sing. The closest I got with Alexandra was her rendition of Listen. That song was amazing.

JLS missed that high note it was so out of tune in "I'm already there". They are going to crash and burn anyways you can see that one guy in JLS going overboard and trying to steal the show from the kid which looks like a drowned rat.

Diana was toast near the end she was too flaky and my favourite Ruth was gone b/c she didn't have the home team advantage.

I bought it. 320kbps, only 65p, and very easy if you are already registered with Play. Seems to be better than Amazon, which is 256kbps according to their literature.
