Videogames that steal your time and soul

Oblivion, last night as a matter of fact.
I was up till 4:30

Good thing I'm on vacation.

The 2 before that were Dead Space and Fallout 3

I have to go with World of Warcraft.

My husband started playing it before I did. He finally wore me down and I tried it. Now I'm so hooked it's unreal. I think I play more than he does now.

I tend to spend a lot of time with a game until I beat it and then I fall off. So for about a week a game will take up my time.

Play World of Warcraft....you can't beat it. If you do decide to play, let me know, we can get on the same realm together. :)

In my life in the past 25 years? Too many sleepless nights to count.

These days I pretty much just play Warcraft. My guild just started Heroics a week or two ago, almost downed Sartharon in Obsidian Sanctum last night. My guild is pretty laid back and we all have jobs and lives so we aren't T7 yet.

What server are you on, kitkat?

My main's armory page.

The one I'm currently on is Sins of a Solar Empire. What I enjoy doing is putting only a couple factions on grossly oversizes maps and then trying to take over the universe. Right now, I'm on hour six of a map, and I'm sure that I have many more hours to go.

However, the game most guilty of what the OP described is Sim City 4. On that game, I can sit down right after eating dinner and keep on rolling clear until the wee hours of the night. That game is addicting.

I think I'm one of the rare freaks around here-it started with Ghost Recon, then Crimson Skies. Halo 2, well, I don't look at my logged hours at Bungie.net-I literally DON'T want to know. Then a touch of Halo 3 while I awaited COD4-then 5 came along. I almost put it down but gave it a little time("I'll just play until level 20."). Yeah, right. I'm averaging 4.5 hours sleep a night during the week and am halfway to my second Prestige. I don't know if its stolen my soul-but I've made starch-heavy dishes like spaghetti on purpose at times in the hopes that my wife will conk out early so I can play.:shifty:

WoW is where most of my time disappears, lately. My brother and I are currently re-rolling Alliance. Thank Jebus for Death Knights and Refer-A-Friend.

RPGs are usually my time wasters. Especially the ones made by Bethesda. Sadly, I was able to lose 7 or 8 hours at a time playing Morrowind. Perhaps it's better that Oblivion wasn't so addictive. :p

Back at the time it came out, Half-Life 1. I had the day off work and ended up playing all the way through it without noticing the time.

Vampire Bloodlines took up quite a few hours too.

Nowadays, I don't bother quite so much

Gears of War for 2 years, now Gears of War 2.

I had to avoid the new gears of war, I know it will suck me in. It is a good thing the new Call of Duty is not as great as I thought it would be. I can put it down but it's still fun.

CoD4 was pretty badass and I connected with it far better than 5 because it's modern.

But I'm a Gear always and forever ;)

Don't get me wrong the New Call of duty is great. But it just hasn't sucked me in for some reason.

I will say that I love the animation style and the mixture of news footage in the cut scene.

Am I wrong or is that Keifer Sutherland (sp) doing the voice over for the American cut scenes?

I'm afraid I was enjoying using the flame thrower just a little too much last night. The Japanese soliders would charge me yelling "Banzai!" (sp?) and I was like "Banzai this motherfucker!" and whoosh, instant BBQ'd soldier.

I worry about myself sometimes. :(

Its even more fun in multiplayer-then you know some poor sap's screen was covered in flame! We are sick, sick, sick...

And, Pug, yes, it's the great Jack Bauer rallying the Americans.

Yup, that's him. Gary Oldman is the voice of the Russian sargeant.

I'm playing World at War, but most of my time is spent on Fallout 3. I bought it when it was released but only got into it a week ago. Oh my god, that game is like a black hole sucking the entire space-time continuum into it. I sit down to play and after what seems like 20 minutes I look at the clock and realize 3 hours have gone by. It's starting to seriously cut into my sleep so I'm forcing myself not to play later in the evening because once it's on it's not going off.

Civilizations 1, 2 and 3
Panzer General (only the first one)
Fantasy General
Tie Fighter
Final Liberation (a failed Warhammer 40K game)
Half-Life: Counterstrike
Half-Life: Deathmatch Classic
Half-Life: Team Fortress Classic

Some arcade games on emulators I replay, Alien vs. Predator, Punisher, GI JOE. It's even more fun cuz it's illegal.

Yeah I was enjoying the flamethrower last night as well, the one on the Russian tank is pretty awesome too. I also enjoyed, to my surprise, using the guns on the plane. I've not finished the game yet but I hope I get to do it again.

I was thinking last night. With all these WW2 games out. Do they play them in Germany? The Nazis deserve it but for young Germans I wonder if they want us to move find another target. What could be next though? As of now we've got Nazis, zombies or aliens. I know we are treading lightly, video game wise, in the middle east. Maybe star trek fans against star wars fans.
