But the Borg were the enemies of most of the galaxy so voyager did them a favour
Then the Borg are the scapegoat because of their past actions or what we feel about the Borg. Is it justified to pick on some group of people because of their past actions.
If I had to pick on someone from Europe just because I had to make a story of someone from Europe, would it be best to pick someone that is a German citizen then say a citizen from the United Kingdom. Ahh, would not be nice to make a German citizen the scapegoat just because of the actions of a war over 60 years ago. Does it really matter what happened last year of 60 years ago, why make them the scapegoat.
The Borg isn't a group. It's one person. that would make them all still Hitler and not the generic descendantc of people from the era of the Nazi fascism.
Janeway defended her ship and crew when the borg attacked. She also helped some self-aware borg rebel. If she was unsympathetic to their lives she would have just wished them luck and been on her way.
You can say the same about the pilot from Japan defending his airplane when he was dropping bombs on the navy base in Hawaii (7 December 1941).
The Borg assimilate civilizations. Not individuals. Hugh said so. After Curiosity is put aside as it was in Q Who, they won't concern themselves with even the most disagreeable human unless they're really pushing their craw, even allowing them armed to walk freely about their vessels. If Janeway had ignored the borg, they would ave ignored her, unless her assimilation was part of some huge gambit to assimilate the civilization.
Comparing the aliens Ransom killed to the borg is like comparing the borg to a litter a kittens.
Just because the BORG was aggressive to take over Earth in the past does not justify being the aggressive to kill the BORG. If you just replaced the BORG with some other species and we did to them what Janeway did to the BORG would it be fine.
Ah,but as discussed in a different forum the Borg don't play fair, and don't negotiate (seven of nine notwithstanding).
They assimilate.Since the Borg don't offer exemptions to that policy for species stuck far from home,Janeway had to keep the bully away the old fashioned way-with a fist and whatever was at hand.
Ransom murdered aliens who previously were no threat to Earth and could be communicated with.
Bitter Kittens. Janeway killed Hundreds of thosands of Borg through inaction in UNimatrix Zero, and it eventually got to her.
Ransom murdered aliens who previously were no threat to Earth and could be communicated with.
What if the Ransom aliens were the Borg and the aliens that Janeway had to murder were the real aliens Ransom killed?
Don't name them after Ransom. That's like saying that the Dodo was named after Mr Dodo who killed the last dozen of them.
Ransom murdered aliens who previously were no threat to Earth and could be communicated with.
What if the Ransom aliens were the Borg and the aliens that Janeway had to murder were the real aliens Ransom killed?
If Ransom was killing borg just to use the bodies to power the ship that would be just as reprehensible. There's a huge moral difference between killing for personal gain and killing in defense of self or others. If you don't get that then there's no further point to this conversation.
Janeway could have destroyed the borg. Alll she had to do was tell the holographic armies striving to be free in season 6 that the Borg are bacically beasts of burden for their conciousness ripe for conquest.
What if the Ransom aliens were the Borg and the aliens that Janeway had to murder were the real aliens Ransom killed?

Hold on hold on. If Janeway just went the other way and stayed away from the Borg she would not have had to kill the Borg. Was it not Admiral Janeway that said go in now and get to Earth. Nope, Janeway did go in but she made sure the Borg around the place were killed with the most amount of deaths. How do you call that defense of self and others.
Yup. there was a Superman story a while back about a villian who kept travelling back in time one day and killing Superman again, and then all the Superman met each other in heaven. Admiral Janeway was insane anyways. temporal ephasia whatever.
Desperate times call for innovative thinking.
If one needs to use some aliens to power one's warp drive, go ahead and do it.
Captain Ransom sir, I salute ye.
janeway needed crew. You don;t think she could have apoted crew using the same technology as the people from Workforce? They did the same with Lindsay ballard convincing her that she wasn't dead, and then there's what she did to the doctor, but other than creating a ship of holoslaves, it's about al she could have done to compete with her steady decline of personal.
For me, the story of Equinox (which was one of the best episodes they did) is the story of Voyager that could've been, the only aspect of this episode (and post TNG trek in general) i hate is when janeway goes into Ms. Self righteous smarty pants mode.
She gets her comeuppance in the end.
kathy's bum stayed about the same nice size. The Lads on the crew increased a couple pants sizes though. Toms neck nearly took over the rest of his body.

Yes it does.

Wolf 359? First Contact?
The Borg are currently the only species the Federation is actively in conflict with. The Borg will not negotiate. When encountering a Borg ship, depending on what size ship a Federation captain has, they have a choice to either try to flee or fight.
Ever wonder what the Binars want? They have a seat on the Federation Council son't they?
I think the Federation has given enough gifts to the Borg.

It's like a lover's quarrel. Or a marriage. There's always a little give and take. The Borg take 39 starships at Wolf 359. The Feds take one of their cubes. The Borg took umpteen planets in the Neutral Zone. Captain Janeway took their transwarp hub.
That crazy little thing called love.
