Check it out, since SG1 ended ive wondered a couple of things about these uber-fighters.

One: Whats your idea for an offical name?
The F22 is called Raptor, F-35 is called the Lightning II, so a jet thats as kickass as the 302 needs a name.Id call it the Peregrine, as Falcon is already taken...

Two;On a serious note, can you see the F-302 being used planetside for peacekeeping ops? I mean, if two nations are ready to fight 2 F-302's would waste an air force real quick. Used appropriately (there is the rub, of course) they could make some fearsome weapons if used on Earth.

That last one happened in the season 10 AU episode, "The Road Not Taken." Our Carter took it as an example of absolute power corrupting absolutely that 302s were being used in intra-earth conflicts.

I think the Antarctic Treaty forbids the SGC from using alien tech/alien derived tech, from being used against other nations (or something like that, I can't recall the specifics of it), so I don't think we'll ever see that happen, cool as it might be.

I'd call the F-302 a Budgie or Parrot.

I think I would name it the F-302 Halcyon.

I've heard the name "Mongoose" associated with the 302s on occasion, but I can't track down a source.

I was able to find a list of the 302 squadrons shown to date though:

    1st SFW - "Snake Skinners"
    • 201st Space Fighter Squadron - "Darkstar Titans"
    • 510th Space Fighter Squadron - "Death Angels"
    • 701st Space Fighter Squadron - "Dragon Riders"
    • 901st Space Fighter Squadron - "Flying Tigers"
    1st TFW - "Wraithwaxers"
