Read. Enjoy. Discuss. Debate. Disagree.

Why there's 16 shows on the list instead of a nice round number....your guess is as good as mine. They're nice choices in my opinion except for number 12. Somebody got a new Cadillac for writing up that one. Or they were smoking crack. :alienblush:

TV Guide's Best Shows of 2008

1. How I Met Your Mother
2. 30 Rock
3. Dexter
4. Saturday Night Live
5. Lost
6. Mad Men
7. The Office
8. Pushing Daisies
9. Battlestar Galactica
10.True Blood
11.Breaking Bad
12.Gossip Girl **CRACK ALERT!! CRACK ALERT!!*
13.Supernatural
14.Project Runway
15.Law and Order
16.House

They only numbered the pictures that way, but I assume that's the chronological order of their "best" list. Hmmmm....no Heroes. No CSI. No Grey's Anatomy (yea!) No Ugly Betty or Criminal Minds. No Without a Trace. I was just recently introduced to Project Runway. That's a good show, I must admit. I was offended at the omission of HBO's "Big Love," then I remembered that it didn't actually air in '08 due to the writers' strike. No "The Tudors" either....thank God. A skinny Henry is a wrong Henry.

There's room on the list for Gossip Girl, but not for The Shield? And they weren't even going for an orderly list, they named sixteen shows. I'm less offended than bewildered.

They put SNL on the list. I guess the Election helped but I thought the show faded into obscurity ages ago. It also doesn't help when their best cast member (Amy Poehler) isn't doing it anymore.

Do they not count The Wire? Season five aired in 2008, and I thought it wrapped up the show brilliantly (after a few bumps).

The fact that The Shield and The Wire aren't on there is utterly bizarre and renders the list useless.

Project Runway and Gossip Girl are better than Chuck? I wouldn't use this list in the bottom of a hamster cage.

This list clearly proves that I should be hired to write TV coloums and not well insane people :p.

GOSSIP GIRL & Project Runway :wtf:...

Mother and 30 Rock at the top spot? Me likee. Lost should be higher.

Where's Earl, Family Guy, or South Park? I guess I'm in the minority but I still like Heroes.

You people do realize that there are people outside the Trek BBS that watch tv and enjoy shows? LOL

Too much crap on that list. My Top Ten:

1-2. Lost and Dexter, tie
3. Pushing Daisies
4. Breaking Bad
5. Heroes (yeah, yeah, who cares, it still rocks)
6. Mad Men (it can win all the Emmys it wants, but it's still sorta...boring...)
7. 30 Rock
8. Battlestar Galactica
9. Chuck
10. Prison Break

I AM surprised Chuck didn't make the list. It strikes me as a show that would be a TV Guide darling.

Would the person who compiled this list please report to the small room at the end of the corridor where Vic Mackey would like a word?

The Wire almost always gets screwed in lists like this.

And putting SNL there at all (let alone as #4) is absurd; they had like three good skits or so in the whole year (all involving Tina Fey). MadTV was much better, and The Daily Show and Colbert Report both had a phenomenal year 2008 - I'd put both of them in the top 5 easily.

edit: Burn Notice was good too.
another edit: and Big Bang Theory!

Doesn't mean were not right to call this list awful...Gossip Girl and Project Runway being called some of the best TV out there, its darn right insulting to my brain cells ;).

Wow, how out of touch I am. There are only 2 shows on that list that I watch and there is more than one show there that I've never even heard of.

But any "best show" list that doesn't include Life is full of shit anyway.
