The Office: Moroccan Christmas

Samurai8472

Admiral
Admiral
As head of the Party Planning Committee, Phyllis decides to throw a Moroccan-themed holiday party. Trouble starts when Meredith's hair catches on fire, and Michael tries to help. Dwight gets a stranglehold on the hottest Christmas toy.
should be good

Okay, I'm not sure how I feel about that ending. So now, basically everyone but Andy, Michael, and Meredith know, and Phyllis suddenly looks like the bad guy. Which she is, but Angela & Dwight are too, and poor Andy! So unbearably oblivious to everything.

But overall, the whole Phyllis vs. Angela stuff was unpleasant. It's probably very realistic (if in a heightened way), but for Phyllis, whose character I normally really like, to behave so vindictively just makes me sad. It wasn't particularly funny or entertaining.

So, who's going to end up breaking the news to Andy? Or will he ever find out? Will Angela marry him anyway, forcing the office to either keep her secret or risk ruining her wedding/marriage? And how will Andy react? As forgiving and doormatty as he's been so far, I can almost see Angela delivering a tearful apology and him accepting it.

The Meredith stuff was really funny. :) Oh, and Jim pranking Dwight's desk was absolutely PERFECT.

and the most satisfying way, as well.

Truly enjoyed this episode from start to finish. I feel bad for andy, but he did kinda force himself on angela during the breakup.

I was very glad that Phyliis let the cat out of the bag. Finally! If only Andy had been in the room. I like the love triangle story, but they have dragged it out a little too far. Just let Andy know already!!

Phyllis looked a little bad in the beginning of the episode when she was ordering Angela around, but she looked like the "good guy" to me when she told the office what was going on. It needed to be said and no one else had the information.

Maybe we'll get the old Andy back when he finds out.

I can see Jim telling Andy just because he is a good guy. Given the type of guy Andy is I can see him not believing Jim and thinking it is a ploy for Jim to steal his marriage thunder.

Other then that I thought the episode was average. It didn't really hit the spot for me.

I thought we got to see the "old" Andy back when he was talking about his nicknames. I loved that bit:
When I was in college, I used to get a-wicked hammered. My nickname was "Puke". I would chug a fifth of SoCo, sneak into a frat party, polish off a few people's empties: some brewski's, some jello shots, some body shots--off myself, pass out, wake up the next morning, food, rally, more SoCo, head to class... Probably would have gotten expelled, if I let it affect my grades, except I aced all of my classes. They used to call me, "Ace," it was totally awesome. I got straight B's, they used to call me, "Buzz."

True that seemed like how he used to brag about things, but I was thinking more along the lines of angry and unreasonable Andy.
The old Andy would of never been able to put up with Angela's wedding plans (especially loosing multiple deposits).
Also in this episode the reason Andy didn't hear about Angela cheating was because he was off by himself practicing his instrument. Old Andy would of had no problems practicing his instrument in the middle of the party.

Phyllis's un-Christmas party was a little weird revenge on Angela. Angela treated Phyllis pretty crummy in the past, but Phyllis more than out-Angela'ed her. Shoving her Nativity scene into her drawer and making her move the tree was just mean and un-Phyllis-like. I guess knowledge WAS power for Phyllis.
Loved Dwight's victory smirk.

Well to be fair Angela has been bullying Phyllis for years. This was Phyllis' first major chance to bully Angela, I can't blame her for going a little overboard.

I agree. As it is, when the tables turn in these types of situations the natural thing to do is to make things worse for that person then they were for you so to really drive home your message.

There's also the fact that, pre-Meredith's accident (and after) it seemed like the most successful Christmas party they've had yet.

I thought this episode managed to be very like the UK Office, while also being very true to the strengths of the US Office. A really good episode, but then I like a bitter tone once in awhile ...

The one Pam and Jim's ex-gf threw together seemed more successful.
