Where Silence Has Lease

i think what got me the most was when Nagilum kills Haskell. i remember seeing it the first time when i was i dunno 8 years old maybe. i think its still the most violent cold death we've seen on star trek.

I view it differently - random redshirt replaces Wesley at the CONN and then gets killed immediately after. If Wesley hadn't been manning the station all through the episode up to that point, it would have felt better. As it is, it feels like the most blatantly telegraphed redshirt death ever.

Doesn't mean I don't like the episode, but that scene doesn't have the same effect I think they were going for with me.

I like this one. Bit of a cerebral feel to it, with a little philosophical discussion sneaking in, but also "creepy" as SupAJ1M says.

Okay, joking aside (Shades of Gray=yuck) this was a very interesting Ep. Sure the redshirt death was kind of obvious, but the meaning behind it is what was creepy. Needing to see half the crew die just to understand it?

Other than the Crystalline Entity, Nagilum was TNG's best villain.

I would have said the Borg, but after the "Hugh" episode, they became crap.

aside from the episode being quite creepy, it was also comical aswell.

"like the rat said...keep the cheese, i just want out of the trap"

Riker - "if we went through there, where would we be?"
Worf - "On the bridge!"
Riker - "But we are on the bridge!"
Worf - "is it the same bridge?"
Riker - "Or did we step from one bridge onto another bridge?"

Worf - "This ship has one bridge! ONE BRIDGE! ONE RIKER! ONE BRIDGE!!!!"

lol

That part cracks me up too. I always thought this episode was under appreciated. I also thought it was funny when they decide to blow up the ship and the new CMO Pulaski is like this was a bad time to join this ship!

Was that a Riker line? I don't remember, but it sounds like one. Sometimes he'd bust out with odd, cool lines like that. One time he said, "Some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you" and I was just tickled.

This ep is one of the reasons that i love season 2 so much. It's definitely my favorite season of them all.

I still say the series was at its best during seasons 2 and 3...after that it was a gradual downward slide in quality with some bright spots along the way...until All Good Things of course.

This one is in my top 5 favorite episodes of TNG. I agree to the creepy feeling. I often watch it around Hallowen when I am in the mood for a creepiness. This

Nope, that was a Geordi contribution.

Good episode. Everyone knows that Nagillum is Mulligan spelled backwards, right?

Another creepy/bizarre outing from this season was "Time Squared." Talk about a plot that messes with your head! Creepy-looking Picard double! Ack!

I did love it when the Enterprise dispatches the fake Romulan Warbird with a single photon torpedo.

they should've worked that FX into another episode featuring a battle with the Romulans.

I loved about 20 minutes of this episode, and hated the other 20 that were pure filler. I still don't understand what went so wrong with the writing process - how could they not come up with a B plot or something? That whole thing about Worf being on a weird mood that week could have been expanded into something more than him first ranting about space monsters, then panicking aboard the fake Yamato.

I thought it was pretty cold blooded how Nagilum killed that redshirt.

I mean, he didn't just kill him, but apparently melted his brain or something.

It's definitely one of the creepiest eps in ST history, for sure. It also introduced Worf's holodeck monsters program -- favorite creature is the skull-headed dude. I love how Worf, still caught up in Klingon bloodlust, goes after Riker, tell he yells, "AT EASE, LIEUTENANT!" to snap him out of it. -- RR

Worf was very impulsive back then.

Whenever a problem occured, his solution was always to fire photon torpedoes.

I remember once, Q appeared on the viewscreen, and Worf wanted to shoot it.
