House rose to 14.051 million in finals. It's demo held as well. As long as House gets those demos, Fox will keep it around. Hugh Laurie is gold.

WTH is so good about the Mentalist? I view it as a MILF's Psych.

That's what's so good about it. Good for ratings anyway, as long as you don't notice that very low demo score considering the viewership level.

What is this madness? The Mentalist's 18-49 demo beat Fringe's 18-49 demo, improving over its lead-in, while Fringe lost over half of its lead-in.
House had by far the best 18-49 demo, but other such supercool shows as The Biggest Loser and Law & Order: SVU did very well in "the" demo.
If there's some cracked idea of trying to label some shows as "young," all the evidence should be considered.

Well it was a fringe repeat and older people tend to watch repeats mpre than young people so that explains the solid viewer score but low demo. Still good for a repeat.

They have already signed Hugh Laurie for 3 more seasons after this one. Did you really think they would cancel House if the ratings were around 10 million? House was a huge hit on cable, it got higher ratings then most shows on The CW, then NISC or whatever the show came along and beat House.

Even if House dropped to 8-9 million, which I don't think it ever would, it would still be safe because of the demo that comes with it. I do think House should end after 7 seasons as I would rather it not over stay its welcome but after losing my 1st favourite show this week (BL), I kind of want my 2nd favourite, House to last as long as possible ;)

Sorry I overlooked this. Two things---one, The Mentalist was a repeat as well. The question therefore is, why does Fringe have such relatively low overall viewership, considering that it has a decent 18-49 demo? Second, unless there is something positively undesirable about a 50+ audience member, how can a large total viewership be a Bad Thing, especially since it includes the under eighteen viewers as well!

Aiming for males 18-34 or an income bracket of 100K+ is one thing---crowing about 18-49 is awfully close to competing for second place. Yeah, the free business press makes a big deal. But isn't this something like movie reviewers finding something good to say about practically everything?

It will stay on the air for the same reason According to Jim is still on the air, rerun money.

I think House will end in three seasons when Hugh's contract is up. By then it might be the last scripted show on TV.
