not an ad but for the smokers, the smoothest sigs that I've tried so far, Camel nines, the black box with the pink stripe. Tastes and smells like real tobacco.

I smoke but not like I used to. I think smokers have really been kicked around. I understand its wrong to smoke around kids and all but then dont allow them in smoking areas. I think businesses should have the right to make smoking rooms for smokers. Its really unpleasant having to go outside in the freezing cold or blazing heat to have a smoke. Smokers are treated like second class citizens sometimes and its really not right.

I find it hard to vote. Some options are missing, like "occasional smoking". I don't smoke any more, and I don't always mind. I sure do if it's the most acrid kind of smoke. It depends on what people smoke.

I also fear that poll may not reflect our community faithfully because, I believe, non-smokers will naturally avoid the thread. I almost did.

Until recently, I smoked "other". 2-3 times a day, but nowhere near the volume of a tobacco smoker. Perhaps 3 cigarrettes of material/day.

Even so, I've developed some airway inflammation and have had recurring respiratory infections since September.

It could be the beginning of adult asthma, as my Mother has that and has never smoked. But there is no doubt about it, smoking is just completely, utterly stupid. Especially if you have bad Cardio genes in your family history.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. Breathing it in is retarded. Luckily for me, since it's not tobacco, quitting is easy. It's remarkable to think of all the tobacco smokers out there who have chronically inflamed airways - and keep on smoking. It is subtle at first, and I wasn't aware of my situation till I had these infections and got a breathing test.

"smoker's cough", or post-nasal drip, these are the signs. Take care of yourself. Try a vaporizer if you must.

An occasional smoker is still a smoker, with regards to the poll question. What did you smoke? What do you mind, smoke wise?

It's a bbs poll, not a scientific study. ;)

I smoke Camel Menthol Lights (smoked Camel Turkish Jade Lights til they discontinued them :( ), but I don't smoke in the apartment cause I don't want everything I own to reek, plus we have cats and they don't need my secondhand smoke. I'm annoyed that I can't smoke in bars anymore, but it does lead to me smoking less while I'm drinking, and I can now re-wear clothes I wore out without them being totally stinky. I smoke in my car constantly though.

I smoke an occasional cigar, but much prefer to smoke a pipe. My current pipe tobacco of choice is Captain Black Royal, but I intend to continue to try around and see if I like something better...

I am limited to smoking only in my car right now, as the smoke irritates my mothers asthma. However she never minded the smell of the pipe and used to love my grandfathers.

I can smoke in my room but at the moment I don't. No reason why though.

And my cat doesn't seem bothered by the smoke. If she was I'm sure she'd leave the room when I did smoke in the house. She is very opinionated.

I smoke 2 cigarettes a day and the after-work doobie.

My dad had a martini, I have a doobie.

It's a generational thing. ;)

Hey teya... you are the teya from starscape, right? If so, how's the whole cloths design thing working out?

I generally go through a pack of cloves in a week or two, sometimes more, sometimes less. More when I was living with smokers.

I will smoke a cigar once in a blue moon.

I have a pipe I use once or twice a month.

I smoke a lot less when I have to go out of my way to smoke, I don't smoke at all when I'm visiting family or out with friends that don't like smoke. I've 'quit' for weeks or months at a time without really thinking about it and a few times just to test myself. I just really enjoy smoking, much like I enjoy wine and beer and getting a buzz or getting high once in a while, more of an enthusiast than an addict.

I don't smoke, and it's one of my pet peeves when I'm sitting somewhere and someone comes up right next to me and starts smoking.

I quit smoking cigarettes about 7 months ago, after 12 years of doing it. I miss it sometimes.:(
Most of my friends smoke, so I try not to be a militant non-smoker when i'm around that sort of thing.

Now, I'm smoking MENTHOLS! I promised I'd kill myself before it came to this, but it did and I'm still alive and loving menthols for some reason - I can't go back! Curse you Menthol Cigarettes!

I do menthols... though most people who smoke think I'm smoking them to quit... but I tend to smoke out of boredom, which has increased heavily since working from home.

I've never really had the addiction thing though. If I want to stop, I stop. I don't smoke when my daughters around or run out to smoke when I'm in a pub (unless someone is annoying/boring me).

Earlier in the yea I forgot the smoking ban had been given the green light in England and lit up in a pub in Northampton. As soon as the others with me (all but one were smokers) started staring my mind switched on and I dashed outside.

I smoke, mostly cigarettes.
I will have the occasional cigar and I have a pipe that I rarely use.
What can I say, cigs were my first love and I'm a loyal kind of smoker. :D

I always make it a point not to smoke in places where it can bother other people, not to mention that anyway it is now illegal almost across all of Europe to smoke inside any kind of building, including restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs, offices, etc.

No Smoking Laws at bars and restaurants are one of my favorite things that have happened in the last few years. Finally, I can go out and not come home smelling like an ash tray!

As I said, heavy, acrid stuff, like the strongest kind of cigarettes and cigars. But I enjoy smelling Amsterdamer smoke and that sort of thing.

I used to occasionally (or periodically) smoke cigarettes. I began and ended with mentolated ones. Unintentionally looped the loop and then gave it up.

Couple of bowls of "other" in the evening and a Cuban every 2 or 3 months.

I don't smoke tobacco apart from the aforementioned infrequent cigar, but I really don't mind. I let people smoke the odd ciggie in my house, although if they do it a lot I ask them to stand by the window or sit on the doorstep.

Yay, another thread on smoking where I can yet again rant on about how much I hate smoking.

I'll keep short this time but just to say I hate it when people light up in any old place without any consideration for those around them, like at entrance doors, bus stands or just walking by on the street.

Can't wait to see the day when people will finally become enlightened enough to realise that smoking is not only bad for themselves but for others, including kids where I've seen people smoke over (babies in push chairs), and finally put a ban on tobacco, even if it doesn't happen till I'm 100.
