Secret Invasion: The End - SPOILERS!

Some more things I've read.

* The result of the Secret Invasion: Inhumans storyline will be "War of Kings", where the Inhumans will ally with the Kree and go up against the Shi'ar, led by Emperor Vulcan.

* Early covers for the Dark Avengers feature someone wearing a version of Iron Man's armour designed to look like Captain America's costume named "the Iron Patriot", Spider-Man in his black costume, Ms. Marvel (in her old red and blue costume), Hawkeye (in his original costume), Ares, Marvel Boy and Wolverine. They may not be the real people, however.

* Ms. Marvel's own book suggests she may soon be going up against Osborn. Which makes sense, given...

* The New Avengers appear to be gaining two new members, Captain America and Ms. Marvel. Spider-Woman will also re-join them. The cover for this second issue has two Wolverines, one of whom they appear to be attacking, which suggests the Dark Avengers aren't who they say they are.

* The Mighty Avengers will be getting a completely new lineup, and will now be written by Dan Slott. Bendis will write Dark Avengers.

* Nick Fury's Secret Warriors will get their own book.

The above images are hosted on my personal Google Pages webspace and are not hotlinked.

I was confused by that one cover showing multiple versions of characters fighting each other. Perhaps the Dark Avengers are Skrull copies? Ones that rebelled against the Skully ways and have their own (good?) agenda? One against the Dark Illuminati? After all Osbourne is the one who assassinated their queen.

^If, as we have been led to believe, the Dark Avengers are Osborn's team (and that's why Ms. Marvel is going against them), then there's no way the real Spider-Man would be on it.

Could be one of the Scarlet Spiders, or perhaps Venom is faking Spidey's appearance for some reason.

The word I have heard is that the Dark Avengers are really known villains.

Iron Patriot = Norman Osborn
Black Spidey = Venom
Hawkeye = Bullseye
Old Ms. Marvel = Moonstone
Ares = Ares
Wolverine = Daken (his son)

Still just the rumor I have heard...

^Given what happened in the last issue of Thunderbolts, that wouldn't surprise me at all.

I also heard that Oscorp will buy out Stark Industries, so that might explain how Osborn gets his hands on Stark's Iron Man suits.

So Osborn is not only becoming Ms. Marvel's new arch-adversary, but he's becoming Stark's new Obadiah Stane as well? :rolleyes:

The guy should still be dead! (freakin' frakin' Clone Saga ending. Still f-in' things up 12 years later)

And while I am voicing my dissent: What's the deal now with apparently two separate people going by the name Hawkeye and shooting arrows and stuff, yet neither are Clint Barton? :scream:

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

Actually, the Ms. Marvel Annual (a one-off story with Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel working together) now makes more sense.

Osborn is Villain #1 now. His fingerprints are everywhere. I don't have a problem with that. He's the anti-Stark.

Clint's probably still getting over the whole "dead" thing. He gave Kate Bishop his blessing, again, that's enough for me.

^Simple, the Skrulls have nowhere else to go. Their religious beliefs told them that Earth belonged to them. They were and still are desperate.

The outcome is that we now have several thousand Skrull prisoners on Earth, Stark is out of a job and is now the world's most wanted man, Norman Osborn is the most powerful man in the world's superhuman community, Ms. Marvel wants him dead, the Inhumans are going to war with Emperor Vulcan and Shi'ar and oh yes, Osborn, Dr. Doom, Namor, Emma Frost and Loki are now running the show.

So basically, Osborn is now the Lex Luthor of the Marvel Universe. I like it.

The only thing that better be explained with the 'evil' illuminati, is they better have a good reason why Emma is there.

^It may very well be that she's simply seeking to protect the world's remaining mutants.

You know what would be a really cool twist ? If she was there with Scott's blessing.

I can't help but think that someone like Mr. Sinister or Magneto might have taken her place if they were available, though.

^The storyline is ongoing. There's something going on that stems from her pre-Ms. Marvel USAF days when she was shot down, captured and interrogated by terrorists. Somehow, Osborn is linked to that.

Quite frankly, I found the Secret Invasion, on the whole, very meh.

I think the two best Marvel books going are Brubakers Captain America and Daredevil.

I can't disagree about Captain America, but I thoroughly enjoyed Secret Invasion.

According to Bendis, that's exactly what happened.

Quoted from WizardUniverse.com:
Originally, it was going to be Magneto in that chair but continuity would have it where he just wasn't available and we all got together and Fraction was cool enough to let Emma get in there and, boy oh boy, that just makes her the most interesting person in that room to me. [The Dark Reign] special is actually written from her point of view mostly and I'm looking forward to it because that is a character that's kind of straddled both lines for a long time and now a hard decision is being made for her.

So it sounds like she may either be the weak link in the Dark Illuminati, or she might be in for a bit of character regression. I'd prefer the former, given the choice.

There were definitely parts I liked, especially in the first few issues. But as it went along.. it's hard to put a finger on. For the first time in my comic reading (that I can remember) I was consciously thinking "ok, the skrulls aren't really going to win"..

Definitely enjoyed a lot of the "banter" between the characters, and liked Yu's art. And specific character moments, as when "Jarvis" was left with the baby, Thor drawing a clear line with Tony.

I think Sinister is dead which is why he couldn't be used, but what is going on with Magneto these days? Honestly, I haven't read any X books since Messiah Complex since they have sucked royally, or so I hear.
