I've been trying to illicit some LOL's by making drive-by comments I think are funny but apparently a lot of you don't.

Not to put my self out there as a target but do you think I should cut it out? I mean, do you notice them? If so, do you chuckle or do you just roll your eyes or just skip the post altogether?

Yeah, don't worry about it, man. If it comes off as desperately trying to get a laugh it will generally have the opposite effect.

If something strikes you as funny, then make a joke, but if you fixate on the lack of a reaction you're in for a lot of disappointment. Maybe one out of ten things will get a strong reaction, good or bad.

Why does everyone try to be funny? It's an art form really, like playing the violin or drawing with charcoal. Or playing the violin with charcoal.

Even with years of training if you don't have the talent you'll at best be subpar. So why don't you become a plumber instead?

Don't overthink your humor, but also be careful not to underthink it.

And just as constructive criticism, you do post quite a bit, especially topics. That can be annoying to some people, and can make things you say that are supposed to be funny not funny, because they see you as just trying to get attention by being omnipresent.

I don't particularly care m'self --- more topics means I can post about more things --- but the annoyance factor could be why some find you unfunny. Moderation is cool

Same here. But I;m not trying to be funny. Smartass comments are more a reflex that I can't help. Am I ignored? Sure. Does it bother me? Not really.
