Knight Rider Looks To Be Cancelled

SyFy Portal...

I was afraid of this after I learn't NBC next episode is not till December 31st a stupid night to air a new episode and 2 episodes before the re-tool even begins, surly those 2 would of aired now to seperate the first half from the retool 2nd half.

NBC released its mid-season schedule, and while there is a place for "Knight Rider," its episode order has been cut to just 17 episodes, and it appears the network is not apt to make many more

Low ratings have promoted NBC to trim 'Knight Rider's' order from 21 episodes to 17," Ausiello said. "As a result, the show's season (and possible series) finale will be broadcast Feb. 25."

While a cancellation isn't official, the fact that NBC is looking to cut its production of the show is not a good sign, despite the network's claims that it would recommit itself to the show with a retooling that dumped some of the original actors from the backdoor pilot that aired a year before

NBC tried something different in "Knight Rider's" timeslot last week by airing a variety show by Rosie O'Donnell, but the ratings for that outing were even worse than what "Knight Rider" was generating, and that show survived just one episode.

I enjoyed the popcorn style I needed a light hearted show and will miss the banter between Zoe & Billy. NBC tried to mix KR with LV, when they should of kept LV and made KR like the old one.

Am still looking for that 100% perfect season lol

Ford's ad dollars was keeping this show going, as was appropriate, it's an extended Ford ad after all. Have you checked the financial news and seen what's happening to the auto industry? Of course this show's financial underpinning was yanked. Ford will be lucky to just survive, they can't be bothered to keep some silly TV show funded.

As I said in the other thread I'm not really surprised. Ford's situation (they help fund the show since its essentially a Ford ad) is causing them to tighten their belts a bit. Plus the ratings have been horrible lately.

Maybe because the writing has been horrible? Seriously, it was a silly show.
"Michael meets a former soldier who's in league with furners. KITT helps. Obligatory T&A ensues"

Applauds...now I can watch NBC in comfort soon, not having to fear seeing a commercial and consequently going blind. Shall we take a poll on which old show they will attempt to resurrect next?

Six Million Dollar Man?

Oh, I know, Manimal!

Not gonna happen, Bionic Woman still reeks failure... Glad Michelle Ryan is now on Merlin with a less dumb role!

I suspect KR's lackluster ratings and Ford's financial troubles go hand-in-hand here. I can't say this is a surprise. I found everything about the new KR to be downright awful. The cast, the writing, the direction, the set design, the car... it all seems like one of those cheap syndicated shows from the mid-to-late 90s. I won't be sad to see this series go.

As opposed to the original series, which was based off long-lost William Shakespeare plays discovered in some guy's attic.

I thought the series was going to start over

It is. The show will reboot, have a few weeks of new episodes (I think it said three in the article I read) and then the season finale. There are five additional scripts written that will be used - IF - they get a season two (unlikely).

The show was terrible and like "Team Knight Rider" before it, they just don't get it and tried to make it to "hip" or appealing to wider audiences. It's going to go bye-bye because it's crap.
