Interesting point. The Pickup Artist is one of the most disturbing shows I've seen on TV... I think any guy willing to engage in that has to be seriously desperate or worryingly sociopathic.

They prey on the weak and those with low self-esteem... no conquest at all really, more like a slaughter. A conquest is a meeting of equals on fair and clear grounds, whereas The Pickup Artist techniques are dirty and exploitative. I can't bare to watch it actually.

And what you highlighted, whether meant unitentionally or intentionally, is exactly what was happening to IHR.

Still, beginning a relationship like that is a bit like building a house of cards, isn't it? I guess the point is, no relationship is intended in the first place.

I actually knew a guy who was on the first Pickup Artist season. He was a really, really nice guy --- before he went on the show. Then I hear he gets together with a model --- with really low self-esteem. Coincidence?

Slaughter is the perfect way of putting it. Preying on the weak, or turning normal women into slavish supplicants by short-circuiting the messages culture instills in them (like worth tied to appearance, or youth, etc).

I've never seen this show, doesn't sound like it would interest me either, but I have a question for you.
