Read..my child..Read

Surprisingly enough, "The Inner Light" didn't really do anything for her.
I always thought that was the ultimate ep to rope people in. . .But apparently not!

I am hoping the new movie will do the trick. She is coming, but I have to go to Twilight, unfortunately. . .

You have my condolences. Maybe she'd like Far Beyond the Stars? DS9? My wife just sat there kinda dazed after she saw it. She couldn't believe it was Star Trek. She was like, "I'm starting to see why you're so into this stuff."

That's a good suggestion, I will see if I can convince her to sit down and watch it.
I think DS9 is the key to getting her hooked, although "Change of Heart" and "In the Pale Moonlight" didn't work well.
She did declare tonight that Picard was her favorite trek character. Which kind of cracked me up because I don't think she has seen enough to make a comparison!

My other half has always managed to come in while Trek is on when it's the most embarrassing scene possible. Think Worf on steam train dressed as a cowboy or somesuch.. He did watch an entire ENT episode the other night (Shuttlepod One) and thought the pessimism of Malcolm quite funny.

Original question: YES I have indoctrinated my offspring and I am proud that they have read Trek books. Two of them have read Mosaic and loved it. One of them has read A Stitch in Time and loved it. One of them (the Mosaic reader) had also read Pathways and the first two novels in the VOY relauch. She is the most likely to read some more I think.

I remember when I read that first collection of James Blish adaptations of TOS...I had never read a Star Trek book before, and, for its time, Blish did a pretty good job. I still have those books and hope that someday my son will want to read them too. He already believes that Kirk is the greatest captain of all time: which he is. So, he is off to a good start.

I am happy to report that my oldest daughter now recognizes "Cappin Kirk" and "Misser Spock" on sight, be they on the TV or the cover of a book on my desk.

When we watch Boston Legal my son calls Shatner Captain Kirk. Same thing when we watch TJ HOOKER....what made me laugh was when we passed by SPEICIES on some channel and he called Ben Kinglsey..Captain Picard...

See you guys went about this all wrong. When I met my girlfriend, she was already a trekkie/sci-fi nerd. It's made my life considerably easier. No fuss, no muss.
