Two scenarios come to mind. The 1701E was taken to the DQ and would have met up with the Marquis. Picard would most likely put the Marquis crew to work, but not like Janeway did. The crew of the 1701E would have out numbered the Marquis. The first season would have been more about the Picard and the Marquis coming to terms with eachother, and season one ending with the Marquis proving themselves.
- Chakotay would take over the second officer spot.
- B'Elanna would be assistant Chief Engineer
- Worf would keep tactical.
- Data would go to 3rd officer
The rest of the Marquis crew would be assigned to various posts, including the 1701E's rotating Helmsman.
Seska would have been a bigger problem. The 1701E would have been a big prize for the Kazon. Seska would have had a bigger barging chip to give them with the 1701E versus Voyager.
Picard would have out fought the Kazon and once Seska'a trechery was uncovered he would have tracked her down, and gotten her back or destroyed the ship she was on. Then head back towards home.
The Vidiians would have a much larger problem. Such a large ship with an equally large crew all ripe for picking would have made an irrestible target.
Then the Borg. Picard would have most likely tried to avoid them as much as possible.
Troi would hold the responsibility of trying to teach Kes how to deal with her emerging powers.
Picard would have helped the Borg fight Species 8472.
Freeing 7 of 9 would have happened at a slower pace. Once Kes was gone, Troi and Data would have taken on helping Seven learn to be more human, and would have been her advocate to Picard. Troi would have been the one to encourge Picard to allow Seven to use Borg technology to redesign Astrometrics.
The
Q and the Gray would have been a bit different. The Female Q could have been the one to seek out Picard as a mate, and Q would have been the jealous, spurned lover.
Some minor and major differences if the 1701E was the one stranded.
How the 1701E gets back home in 7 years is beyond me.
