Good for her, 16 is way too old to be spanked. Its kinda demeaning at that age imo.

Were they in public or something? How did the cops find out? Did the father call the police on his daughter? Because if so, he's a fucking loser.

If a daughter of mine 16 yrs + ever did anything wrong, like back chat me for example i'd give them the biggest clout of their life across the back of their head.

She may be 16, but we dont' know her attitude and line of thought; she may well have been acting like a six year old and deserved that, but then again -- I don't approve of hitting kids.

Sometimes when I was a kid I would end up with sore red arms and legs from my fathers slipper if I did anything wrong and you know what, I wouldn't even dream of hitting back EVER! even when I was big enough to do so. I know for a fact that being disciplined as a kid has turned me into a better man than if i'd never been disciplined.
This guy has clearly failed at raising his daughter to respect him, that's why she hit him, she's obviously been allowed to get away with things for far too long..

If parents would discipline their children, no matter what their age, most of them would not grow up acting like jackasses. My son is 21 with a child of his own, but he respects me...something most kids have no concept of.

I rather hope that punch hurt like hell. Obviously, we don't know all the details here, but trying to spank a sixteen year old on the ass as a disciplinary measure is both humiliating and kinda sick.

It's all fine and good to reminisce about the good ole days when kids took the pain and never even dared to think about rebellion. However, I do have to wonder about a dad who is still trying to spank his daughter at the age of sixteen. And that is, according to the first article, after he had already slapped her across the face. And over something as trivial as a broken item no less. Yeah, there are issues going on in that family for sure, but I'm not convinced those issues principally involve something as mundane as a shortage of discipline.

When I was a teen, my dad went from spanking to grabbing me by the scruff of my shirt and putting me up against the wall while he chewed me out. If he would've hit me, you're damn right I would have hit him back.

It was inappropriate for this girl to have been spanked, as it most definitely could have had sexual connotations. I wholly agree with the girl punching her father, as I see it as self defense. If that's assault, then so was her father slapping her and he should have been arrested also.
