What If: Enterprise E stranded in Delta Quadrant?

JJohnson

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Here's my scenario: The Enterprise E and voyager switch places somehow around stardate 50983.1; Picard and crew encounter 8472 and rescue Seven of Nine. What will Picard do with her? What role will she fill in the crew? Will she wear a uniform?

I'm looking for input in a fanfic (Raven's Call) I'm writing. I think he would have Seven use her real name and wear a uniform, and join Ops or Science division as a provisional ensign. That being the case, how will Annika develop on the Enterprise?

I posted this in the last thread that asked this exact same question:

Picard would not indulge 7's childishness as much as Janeway, but Data would take extra special interest in her. Geordi would strike out with her romantically. Riker would stride about putting his foot up on things. Troi would probably be a help, unless she was driving.

What makes you so sure that Picard would have her de-borged to begin with?

Didn't Seven's body started to reject most of their implants so that it was necessary to remove them? I remember something like that was given as explanation.

(Real world reason: They wanted to put Jeri Ryan in a catsuit.)

lol, I never really got into VOY that much so let me check Memory Alpha.

According to Memory Alpha the crew of the Voyager forced her separation from the collective. Her body was not rejecting the Borg parts.

And I thought her body was starting to reject her implants after her sepration from the collective...

I don't think Picard would force 7 to wear a uniform Troi didn't wear a standard uniform for most of the series. It wasn't until Capt. Jellico forced her too. So I think 7 would have still worn her catsuit.

Picard having to deal with the Bord would have been VERY interesting

I have no doubt that he would have given 7 a real job :D

The Kazon would have been a non-issue.

Picard wouldn't have put up with any of Neelix's bullshit.

The Doctor would have been treated more like a member of the crew.

We would have found closure with the Victorian-era holonovel.

Quinn wants to commit suicide; Picard, "fine, be my guest."

Are you suggesting Beverly would have been killed? Then we would have a Picard in deep grief.....

We would have found closure with the Victorian-era holonovel.
Mmm. It might have made that Nexus scene a bit less out of place...

Think I'd have preferred this series to Voyager. Can I change some crew members around:

CO:Picard
XO:Chakotay
Ops: Data
Engineering: B'Elanna
Helm: Ro
Tactical/Security: Tuvok
Doctor: Crusher
Counsellor: Troi
+ EMH (occasionally)

That would have been nice, and more gender balanced too :)

Two scenarios come to mind. The 1701E was taken to the DQ and would have met up with the Marquis. Picard would most likely put the Marquis crew to work, but not like Janeway did. The crew of the 1701E would have out numbered the Marquis. The first season would have been more about the Picard and the Marquis coming to terms with eachother, and season one ending with the Marquis proving themselves.

  • Chakotay would take over the second officer spot.
  • B'Elanna would be assistant Chief Engineer
  • Worf would keep tactical.
  • Data would go to 3rd officer

The rest of the Marquis crew would be assigned to various posts, including the 1701E's rotating Helmsman.

Seska would have been a bigger problem. The 1701E would have been a big prize for the Kazon. Seska would have had a bigger barging chip to give them with the 1701E versus Voyager.

Picard would have out fought the Kazon and once Seska'a trechery was uncovered he would have tracked her down, and gotten her back or destroyed the ship she was on. Then head back towards home.

The Vidiians would have a much larger problem. Such a large ship with an equally large crew all ripe for picking would have made an irrestible target.

Then the Borg. Picard would have most likely tried to avoid them as much as possible.

Troi would hold the responsibility of trying to teach Kes how to deal with her emerging powers.

Picard would have helped the Borg fight Species 8472.

Freeing 7 of 9 would have happened at a slower pace. Once Kes was gone, Troi and Data would have taken on helping Seven learn to be more human, and would have been her advocate to Picard. Troi would have been the one to encourge Picard to allow Seven to use Borg technology to redesign Astrometrics.

The Q and the Gray would have been a bit different. The Female Q could have been the one to seek out Picard as a mate, and Q would have been the jealous, spurned lover.

Some minor and major differences if the 1701E was the one stranded.

How the 1701E gets back home in 7 years is beyond me.

I think Picard and Beverly are more akin with regards to exploring, and I can imagine their relationship growing more intimate over the years.

I don't think Picard would have been so quick to turn the ship back toward earth either. He'd say something like "Well, since we're out here, we might as well make the best of it."

No doubt he would discover some archeological evidence from various fabled civilizations, including some magical teleporting doors, and as always he'd run into the Romulans somewhere out there.

Data would puzzle over the relevance of distance when people are separated over long distances.

I imagine Worf would become a good friend to many crewman, as he can empathise with their situation probably more than most, since he has spent many years away from his people. I can just imagine him saying that.

I think Riker would suffer the most. Not only does he have to maintain an unfaltering image as XO, by hiding his own distress, but he seems to me to be the least space-acclimatized member of the crew. I can imagine him growing very irritable from being stranded.

I doubt that Geordi would notice any difference. Business as usual for him.

Ultimately, Reg would save the day. :)

Well, if the Maquis would have been involved then I'm sure Tuvok would've been included back in the Starfleet crew too.

But, I'm guessing it would be business as usual, I doubt Picard would want to make Riker step down from being his first officer in favour of Chakotay or B'Elanna taking over as cheif enginneer.

Although, I would have love to have seen the comparison between Seven and Data, both struggling to become more human.

^What if Riker and Geordi was killed, just like Janeway's original first officer and Chief Engineer was...

I bet Wesley and the Traveler would go looking for the Ent-E and bring them home in no time! :)
