Michael Giacchino music score for st 11

You're thinking of the animated series, which went de-da-di-dummmm. The original series went, da-de-dummmm!

See?
No, I'm talking about TOS. Here. It opens with four notes.

Ah! I think we're talking about the brassy fanfare that follows.
Ah, okay. A misunderstanding then. :)

Man, I have to say, I love Sandy Courage's original Star Trek theme. (Same goes for Yvette Blais' and Jeff Michael's TAS theme, by the way.)

THERE! ARE! FOUR! NOTES! :p
Four notes (chiming), followed by the eight-note (3 + 5) horn fanfare.

I like the idea of the OS theme as a polka, though. It wouldn't take much of a tweak at all. :D (Then again, I still find the idea of Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again" as a reggae tune almost indecently amusing.)

Everything discussed so far about the soundtrack can be found in this thread; I'll move this over to it.

Some of the music used in the trailer is, I believe, originally from the Children of Dune miniseries. The score for the movie is probably still being written, as the composer generally has to wait until nearly everything else has been completed before starting work.

Re: music?

1. It's composed by Michael Giacchino. What else do you want to know? :)

2. From another thread ...
It is a custom score derived from Brian Tyler's Children of Dune soundtrack from a company called "Two Steps From Hell" that specializes in music for trailers and other licensing.

The specific score is called "Down With The Enterprise" from the album "Legend". You can listen to the entire track here starting at 2:20:

3. We really need a FAQ for this forum.

Re: music?

According to another forum, it is a mix of both "War Begins" from the "Children of Dune" soundtrack as well as "Down with the Enterprise" from Two Steps from Hell. Here is what was said:

This is Nick Phoenix. The ST trailer uses Down With The Enterprise and War Begins. Down With The Enterprise is like an extension of War Begins. I think it is officially being called a remix of War Begins to make everyone happy.

His work for The Incredibles and Mission: Impossible III were fantastic.

The Incredibles had a nice, thirties/40s style of hero music that was not a parody, it was a genuine score as if it were any normal super hero movie. He intertwined nods to John Williams, John Barry, Jerry Goldsmith et al without making sound as if it were a parody.

I reckon it will be very similar to the way Goldsmith handled TMP. Giachinos score will go on in scenes, and somewhere along the line, TOS theme will be worked in. Much like uantum of Solace, where the bond theme was ver subtly spliced into little scenes, as if a nod to what Bond will become. Same as Casino Royale, the theme wasnt heard until the end.

When Star Trek becomes Star Trek in this movie, maybe we'll here it.

Who knows.

There are themes in The Incredibles that would make a very good Trek score.

STXI trailer's music

Is it original or already out there? If the latter, what's it called and who performs it?

Er.. he didn't nod. He appropriated. The main Incredibles theme sounded like a slower version of the X-Men TV theme. The music playing when Mr. Incredible is accessing the database of killed heroes is essentially an inversion of the "capsule-eating" scene in You Only Live Twice.

I suppose the line between homage and rip-off is a thin one. I remember finding the Incredibles score jarring when I first heard it.

I really don't want to hear those three opening notes ever again.
When I watch TOS...it's OK, but it doesn't have the intended effect ( making my heart swell with the wonder of exploring the final frontier blah blah) when it's used in the movies with the big drums added.

But that is the idea of the original series was is not?!?!? I always heard those 3 to 4 notes as others decribe it as a personal chance that we have at redemption that we can and will beat our inner demons without resounding to battling everywhere we might go.

The sound track for the trailer is from Two steps from Hell - Legend.
Here is a youtube link to the music. Its about 2:25 mins into the video, the video is playing all the songs.. Its called "Down With the Enterprise". Its seems that the music was taken or part of it was taken from "War Begins" Childern Of Dune.
