There's a man who lives across the street who is always giving everyone in the apartment complex shit. For example, we don't have assigned parking so one evening all the parking spots were full in our area (that actually happens every evening, and I end up parking somewhere else and walking back, it just doesn't fill up before he gets home). One of my roommates had his girlfriend over, and the guy saw her get out of the car and go into our apartment, so he decides to park in the handicap spot, and he files a complaint against us for "making" him park in the handicap spot.

He has a bunch of strange decals on his truck. One says "honor is my loyalty". I was sure I had heard that before so I looked it up. Turns out that's the motto for the Waffen-SS. He also has a tattoo of the skull and crossbones which apparently is the symbol for the SS. I've seen a number of his colleagues park near by for visits with similar decals on their vehicles. One of the guys even has a tattoo of a burning Israeli flag.

Ironically, the historical Aryans were the acient proto-Persians ("Iran" means (land) of the Aryans), who self-identified themselves by the name aryan several thousand years ago (giving rise to the term's spread into other languages). The Nazis have always been clueless.

Hm, I don't think that's accurate in that regard, they just created their own reality that fit their views.
Interestingly though, very few of the Nazi leaders were anywhere near looking like the "Aryan" stereotype they themselves propagandised; in fact many of them looked outright contrary to that "ideal", especially Hitler, Heß and Goebbels.

That whole idea of an "Aryan" race was idiotic BS, although not more so than racism is today, only slightly more consequent and extreme.

There's a big difference between somebody who has a hobby of genealogy or cooking regional dishes, and somebody who becomes a supremacist for wherever they're from. The former has a hobby--and the latter is contemptible.

I am proud of my Italian and German ancestry. That doesnt mean I am a racist.

I went to a school that most of the population was not white and I faced racial slurs, bigotry and nasty behavior everyday for the color of my skin. That taught me how stupid racism is but I still see nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage. Both of my ancestries have rich dynamic cultures.


Granted....I am communism's baby but..I try to move past that.
