Ace Ventura, Jr. Pet Detective.

Just when you thought nothing could top the horribleness that was the Beverly Hills Chihuahua trailer, I give you...

Ace Ventura, Jr. Pet Detective

I honestly can't tell if this is a joke or legit. It looks so ridiculously awful even by Hollywood's sequel-happy standards, but it's direct-to-DVD which lends it an air of authenticity.

And the Jim Carrey sequels without Jim Carrey trifecta is complete. :wtf:

Think positively. Maybe this is an opportunity for The Asylum to make a rush release rip off job that's actually better than the movie they're copying.

^ Somehow I don't think Ace Pet Investigators, Inc., starring Judd Nelson, Lance Henriksen, Michael Gross and C. Thomas Howell is their thing. They like to rip off big budget movies they don't have the budget for.

Son of the Mask
Dumb and Dumberer
Ace Ventura, Jr.

What's next? Liar Liar Pants On Fire?

The best part of it are probably the comments, especially:
His Mother was Ray Finkel.
:guffaw:

Yes it looks offal, but to be fair the target audience is obviously for Nickelodeon aged kids and not us

I like to think that even Nickelodeon aged kids have standards higher than what's in that trailer.

I watched the trailer thinking it was a joke. When I saw it was real I suddenly got this really unclean feeling.

Name recognition sells. DVDs are a big impulse buy and rental. They've been making movies based on books forever, and that's why we've been on the run of video game and TV shows being turned into movies, not to mention completely unrelated straight-to-video sequels of hit movies and original movies being slapped with other movies' sequel titles upon distribution (Havoc 2, 8mm 2). And now we're getting board game-based movies.

I'm sure the people putting in the sweat and effort think they're making a good movie, but it's not like you're getting the best people to make these kind of movies. And the suits at the top probably just want to churn it out as quickly as possible.

Sorry to bump this link to horror, but as a filmmaker I'd rather starve then be associated with this kind of dreck. And if I had to there's no way I'd put my real name on it.

I think it's real. I believe the girl "starring" next to this kid is the girl who played the little girl aged Rachel in Batman Begins.

Yeah, it seems real (although it's hard to believe at the same time). Considering the tone would have to be so different from the original, it makes so little sense (I was expecting a 16 or 17-year old Ace Ventura Jr at the very least, not a pre-teen Ace Jr.)
