Ah-HA! Westboro gets PWNED!

Besides, they will be their own undoing. We just need to be patient.
I am with you.

By the students protesting violently they are looking like the ones on the side of wrong. Just like those attacking the Mormon churches now who can't accept, peacefully, the vote on prop 8. People are going to sympathize, if not side, with those they see as the 'victims.'

I agree about the violence. For example... and I am only using this as an example here to prove Gertch's point people so let's not drag this thread off topic... I am not accepting anything in relation with Prop 8 but I am not looking to exact any sort of revenge either. I will just cut the Morman's off financially and leave it at that. Threatening their churches with vandalism is ridiculous because it would ultimately turn them into the sympathetic side of this arguement. And hurting someone's pocketbook works much better in this day and age. Basically you won't see me staying or recommending a Marriott anytime soon and you won't find me breaking out their windows or spray painting slurs on their doors.

Basically, I am using temperance and peaceful means to get my point across which will work just as well with Westboro too. It works for any number of things. It won't get you in the news but it still makes a strong clear statement.

(I also think it is a very nice point that, even though Gertch and I are sitting on two seperate sides of an issue, we both agree on how to prove ourselves... like gentlemen. I wish more people felt the same way.)

I'm surprised some Biker gang comprised of Veterans didn't run those Westboro creeps off from the funeral service/procession first. That's what normally happens.

You mean the Patriot Guard Riders? They don't actively interfere with the Westboro punks, just keep them away from the families of the deceased. The Riders form a sort of 'human shield' around the funeral party so that the Westborings aren't heard or seen at all.

Ya know, I ought to write Governor Jindal a letter about this issue. I'm pretty sure Louisiana has a law about this already but, it needs to be amended. The family should be able to hire armed guards with the right to use lethal force on these so-called 'Christians.' Anyone who's going to disrupt a funeral for a fallen soldier deserves to catch some lead. That soldier didn't die so that these creeps can abuse their Freedom of Speech in that way.

Those Westbozos aren't worth it. Shooting at them would be lowering oneself down to their level (well, almost that far down). Besides, why waste the lead on creeps like that? :p

The PGRs have the right idea. All they do is form a protective phalanx - with additional noisemaking (revving engines, singing songs, etc.) if the Westies get loud or obnoxious.

They have to, that's how they make their money - they provoke people into attacking them and then they sue them.

Maybe a nice big church burning when they're all inside?

More hate and physical violence doesn't seem like the right way to marginalize these people.

Plus there's a lot of small children in their ranks.

These kids are really gonna be fragged when they grow up. You know they're all related to each other too, don't you? These people are all from a few families, all related by blood or marriage. They don't take in new people. I'm surprised the state hasn't tried to remove the kids from custody to give them a new target for awhile.

Oh, if only they were located in Texas.....

Because target practice is a lot more fun when the target is moving, of course. ;)

Actually yes, soldiers have died in the past to protect the freedom to say the most vile, hateful things imaginable, so long as you aren't deliberately endangering anyone's life (falsely yelling "fire" in a crowded theater). Kind of the whole point of the First Amendment, which you seemed to have missed, is the protection of all speech, good or bad.

I really wish these people would visit Massachusetts....

That would be hysterical. :guffaw:

I doubt the soldiers themselves would have felt quite that way. I certainly wouldn't. I can just imagine them looking on from the afterlife saying 'These are the people I died to protect? WTF?!'

Then the soldier in the coffin next to him taps on the side and says "No. These are the freedoms that we died to protect."

I have to disagree with you there. That soldier gave his life precisely so that people like these hate-mongers from Westboro could exercise their freedom of speech. I find them wholly disgusting myself, but we must defend their right to say it.

It's always easy to muzzle the whacko's first, and it not only feels good but it seems to be of little harm. The slippery slope begins there...

Well for one thing if he buys a plane ticket to Kansas that demonstrates pre-meditation.
