Indiana Jones 5!

The more Indy, the better. :bolian:

They should plan to do two more consecutively so we can have a second trilogy.

After the last one, no more please.

And it's not going to be very adventurous when Indy is wearing cok bottle glasses and using a crutch.

I'm certainly up for more, though I thought Kingdom was a slight disappointment. I'm still not big on the whole
extradimensional aliens
thing, but I get that they were trying to go for a 50s sci-fi movie feel.

I still don't understand what the problem was, I mean there were melting and exploding heads in 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark', pulling hearts out and the person is still alive in 'Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom', and a man ages to death in 'Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade', so the themes in 'Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull' were right up the same ally. Kind of neat it came out close to 2012, the year of the aliens. I like the creepy/eerie sounds in the new movie as well.

I'm in the same boat with the rest of the fans who can't understand the hate.. Yes the waterfall scene was unbelievable.. BUT...

In watching Temple of Doom, is not the freefall in the life raft just as implausible? In Raiders, is not the submarine ride to the island just as implausible? Especially in the context of them being sci-fi movies?

I loved Kingdom for what it was. Another chapter in one of my favorite movies series... Not as good as the first, but better than the second and on par with the third.

Bring on part 5 and part 6.. with a bit less Shia, please.... Nothing against his performance, but these are Indy movies.. He should be nothing more than a glorified sidekick..

I thought the waterfall scene was funny, '3 times it falls'

I thought Shia Lebouf was going to be annoying, but he proved to be a good choice for the role and a lot of funny scenes with him, Karen Allen and Harrison Ford.

I hope Sallah makes it into the next one.

Yeah, bring it on. I didn't love KotCS, but it was at least entertaining and nobody can say Ford doesn't still know how to play Indy well at this stage of the game.

I say crank out 5 and 6 before the poor guy's bed-ridden ;)

I love this part of the interview. Ford has always been direct and dry:

MTV: James Bond is a franchise that's figured out how to ably switch between actors. If, in 50 years, they find another man to play Indiana Jones, would that sit all right with you?
Ford: "The very simple addition of numbers would make it clear that in 50 years I will not give a sh-- at all. I will so not care."

That said, if they do want to make another one, they better get on it. Ford can't do this forever. The last time they "began the process" of making an Indy film we didn't get it til what, a decade later?

That said, if they make it, I'll be there opening day with bells on. :)

It's been a while since I've seen them - but the mystical aspects are largely mcguffin in the earlier films - they all happen at the end - the balance is tipped too far the other way in this one.

It's a magical skull

From a space alien

From another dimension

I would say Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom has it towards the middle as well, with the glowing stones and the heart scene being the middle of the film

Agreed. The last one may have been longer than any of the others, but the story missed the romance (not mushy kind), mystery, intrigue, and depth of Raiders.

I agree. I also feel that the "supernatural presence" of Kingdom matched the decade's hysteria it was trying to represent: the 50s. What era did flying saucers and little green men start entering the public consciousness? The 50s. Lucas has always strived to accurately represent the themes and public consciousness of the eras he's depicting.

The stuff in the first three is paranormal stuff (or close), whereas with Skull you get aliens, spaceships, another dimension.... it just doesn't fit with the others at all IMO. I've seen the counters to this statement, but I think it's just a stretch and that these don't belong together IMO.

Good. Find that McGuffin and soon. I also think it would be great to shoot two more back-to-back if possible.

I get why so many hate the aliens. Frankly I think it was a bit heavy handed. I mean did we need 13 skeletons becoming one. Did we need dialoge about inter-dimensional space aliens. Just being plain space aliens wasn't enough? Allowing for that I still feel that Crystal Skull for all but 10-15 minutes played out like other Indiana Jones movies.

We were in graveyards. There were puzzles and traps to solve and avoid. They were chased by an "evil" group. There were historical tidbits dropped in and family ties and familiar faces.

So with the exception of 10-15 minutes of heavy handed alien stuff it was very Indiana Jones. I think if the alien(s) had been toned down a bit it wouldn't have set as many against it.

Bring on IJ:5

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Last Bowel Movement of Doom. Lots of Metamucil and various pharmacological product placement deals. :techman:

Maybe he could spend most of the film looking for a nice cup of Sanka?
