X-Men 4

I don't really like the idea if this is a reboot of Cyclops/Jean/Wolverine/et all.

Seems much too soon IMO. I don't have huge problems with a movie focusing on younger Mutants and even though I avoid Gossip Girl like the plague, I would think a writer would be able to write a movie much differently then a tv show that has to rely on things to keep people tuning in each week for 1 hour.

Strictly speaking, if this was based on the actual X-Men: First Class comic there would be no Wolverine. X-Men: First Class features Professor X, Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean), Iceman, Beast (in his original form) and Angel.

Well, I really liked X-Men 3, and I also have a mild fondness for "Chuck," so you'll pardon me if I'm optimistic about this. Here's hoping they keep most of the established younger characters (Iceman, Colossus, Kitty, maybe Rogue). If that's what they do, it's really not any different what what's been expected for the next movie since 3 came out, at least as I recall the rumor mill at the time. I'd kinda like to see Beast come back, too; Kelsey Grammer was inspired casting, but he's probably been scared away by the horrific makeup sessions.

^Again, that all depends on how attached they are to the First Class idea. First Class' Beast pre-dates the blue fur and there's only Iceman out of the characters you mention.

I think like Star Trek XI, besides the large cast of relative unknowns we'll get one or two huge stars for name recognition

Bobby from X-Men 1- Welcome to mutant high

Oh come on! X3 was awesome, and there is so much potential for a X-Men 4-5-6 and possibly 7-8-9-10. The next set of movies could have Mr. Sinister (I don't care how unrealistic the movies would become, so what, as long as it is good it does not matter) brining back Jean Grey and Cyclops and Apocalypse would get involved some how and then the Sentinels, there is so much more that could be done, I don't want another fu**ing remake, reboot, re-imagining or prequel, just continue where it left off

I don't normally prejudge movies before they come out (let alone before we even have a trailer or some images to work with), but this doesn't really sound like a great idea.

After the craptacularity of X-men 3, they have to work damned hard to win me back. Starting with Wolverine, which I can't say I'm super pumped for.

after X-Men 3, I just lost all faith in the franchise. taking a teen-angst angle doesn't do anything to restore it...

I agree 100%.

^On the other hand, the X-Men: First Class comic book series has been quite well received. Though, anything would be better than the drivel currently being passed off as the core X-Men comics.

But the article says that the comic book is about the original X-Men in their younger days, whereas this seems to be about the "next generation."

I don't see why people dislike X3, X1 and X2 were all talk, so it was refreshing to have X3 be all action, so cool, so cool

A Wolverine prequel, a Magneto prequel, now a movie featuring either younger incarnations of Cyke etc or (more likely) a bunch of new young mutants.

Would it be so wrong to simply make an X-Men 4 and show what happens next? Maybe bring back Bryan Singer, since he doesn't seem to be attached to Superman any more? Or am I being hopelessly naive?

Just reboot every movie. If Nolan bows out of making the next Batman movie. REBOOT again.

The second Craig quits Bond....REBOOT.

The main cast have finished being in three movies now. If they want want to do a X4 they'll have to rehire all the main actors which would be really expensive. I don't think FOX thinks it's worth the cost.

I might watch it if it was actually an adapation of X-Men: The First Class with the original five X-Men students and Charles Xavier, otherwise I don't really have an interest unless they do a really cool New Mutants storyline. Josh Schwartz is also the creator of the O.C. I believe unless I'm thinking of someone else. Chuck is great, Gossip Girls not so much.

First Class, X-Force and Astonishing X-Men are the only ones I can stomach right now. And Wolverine, but I'm gone from that book when "Old Man Logan" is done.

While the very notion that somebody considers X4 to be similar to Gossip Girl is alarming, let's not jump to all the worst conclusions; typecasting can be incorrect for writers as well as actors. It's entirely possible this guy will be able to write something suited to the genre rather than merely repeating prior televised inanities.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Jackman and Berry might be expensive but I doubt if there'd be a worldwide outpouring of grief if she didn't return. And as Jackman is doing the Wolvie movie, he can't be overly pricy. As for the likes of Marsden, Jansen, Ashmore etc, they're hardly top dollar earners. Stewart and McKellen might also be overly pricey, but given the ending of X3, they're hardly essential elements. An X4 proper doesn't need to cost the earth.
