"Doc Brown's" house destroyed

But I can't weep too much when a millionare's home is destroyed.

Boy, you can just feel the love, can't you? :(

How do you know Chris Lloyd is a millionaire, anyway? And even if he is, does that mean that losing his home is any less sad? Do rich people somehow deserve this?

However much money he has, it doesn't exactly follow that he can rustle up a new home lickety-split. He can never recreate what he had.

I don't fucking care how much money I've got - if I lost my home, I'd be right pissed, even if I had enough money to buy a new one.

He's a well known and famous star who co-starred in a popular 70s TV series and co-starred in a popular 80s move franchise -among other things.

His MANSION in the HILLS OF CALIFORNIA just burned down.

Wild guess? He's a millionaire.

And even if he is, does that mean that losing his home is any less sad?

It's sad, sure. But less sad than if... (sigh, oh screw it) Joe the Plumber lost his home. Lloyd is more able to replace his home and belongings than the average man is. As the average man would have to wait for and deal with insurance BS. Lloyd can buy a new house, today.

Do rich people somehow deserve this?

Way to put words into my mouth.

Though I'd argue that someone who builds their home in an area prone to earthquakes, wild fires and mudslides "deserves" it.

However much money he has, it doesn't exactly follow that he can rustle up a new home lickety-split. He can never recreate what he had.

Indeed. But, sorry, I'm not moved. I'm sure he's a nice man, he's an entertaining actor, but it's not sad to me. It's sad that he's lost some personal belongings that cannot be replaced (memorabilia, photographs) but the loss of his home?

Sorry, not moved. Sorry it happened to him but he can easily replace his home.

His house was worth something like $11 million, so odds are good he's a millionaire.

But regardless of his ability to replace it--most homes have homeowner's insurance--it's still a personal tragedy for the guy. The article mentions the house storing a lot of his memorabilia and such. You lose things like high school yearbooks, photos, mementos, etc. Chances are he lost a lot of those kinds of things.

He's probably more upset about the loss of those things than anything worth money, just like anyone else.

Um, it's been 28 YEARS since the 1980's.

Ed McMahon was the sidekick on the most famous late night show of all-time for 30 years. He's penniless.

Perhaps the HOUSE was worth millions, but I can't believe in this day and age with the GLUT of entertainment news that people still have this idea of once-successful actors having a ton of money. Their careers supported staffs of up to 20 people. And they were paid in 1970's and 80's salaries. Nowhere near what people get these days for TV and film.

I'm very thankful that neither Lloyd nor any of his family were harmed, and that he's taking it philosophically. I'm sad for the memorabilia he's lost, but better things than people.

Sad.

Sure he can replace the house, bu the memories, personal items, photos -- many thing that are one of a kind, may be lost forever.

Indeed they are and that is sad.

But the man is alive and he's not going to be homeless for any appreciable ammount of time. So I'm emotionless.

If this happened to working-class man and family who'd have to live in a shelter or out of a hotel room until his insurance check comes in and/or his disaster relief money? I'd be more moved.

I don't get moved when things like this happens to the Hollywood Elite.

Sorry, just don't. If he died or a fellow housemate/family member died, sure. All he lost were posessions.

Unmoved.

The house cost 11 million dollars according to Inside Edition and he's making a movie in Canada. So he has a form of income. He's not totally down and out.

Oh I bet there was some BTTF stuff that was burned down too:(

Only the caretaker of his house was there at the time of the fire. When they showed him going through the rubble, there was only his girlfriend and caretaker

Christopher Lloyd is NOT the "Hollywood Elite". What magazines are you reading, and how old are they?

--Ted

He lives in Hollywood.

He's a millionaire.

In my mind, that makes him "Hollywood Elite."

He's a nice, great, and humble man for sure. But he's a millionaire who lost a multi-million dollar home. Sorry. not feeling too bad for the guy's losses. (Other than personal items lime memorbillia and pictures, etc.)
