Heads Up To "Quantum of Solace" Movie Goers

You know, I just read from CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/11/16/boxoffice.ap/index.html

about Quantum of Solace making $30m more then the other film. Could the reasoning be because of the Star Trek trailer? I know that was one of the main reasons why I went to see it, and I'm sure it's the same reason for others here. Not saying Solace was bad, it was actually quite good, but it seems that maybe the trailer had a helping and in that.

Because it certainly wasn't because Casino Royale was an excellent film that people wanted to see a sequel to. No, that's not why QoS did well at the box office. It certainly wasn't because of inflation of ticket prices. It was all because the trailer for a Star Trek movie was showing with it that QoS topped the box office.

And people say I'm arrogant with my beliefs.

Holy $h!t. I agree with one of your posts. Right on.

I would have gone to the Bond movie with the DH even had there been no trailer (and I didn't call ahead to see if it was playing. If it was, it was. If not, I would be satisfied with the online version.) He's a big Bond fan and most times, we go the first weekend to see it.

Seeing the Trek trailer with it in the theater was just icing on the cake. I looked upon it as a reward for going into the usual nasty mildewy theater. (Down here, they switch off A.C. when the places aren't in use, and I've never been to a theater that didn't smell of mildew. Yuck!)

Agreed. I would've seen QoS regardless. :)

I went to the Jersey Gardens theater in Elizabeth, NJ to see QoS on Friday afternoon. I was disappointed when the trailer did not show before my viewing. Still, the Trek fan in me had to give it a shot so after the movie I asked one of the managers if they were playing the trailer at all. He said that it was being shown in front of some showings, but not all. He found one that it was showing with and told me if I came back later he'd walk me in to see the trailer and then walk me out. I thought that was super cool of him. :techman:

No ST trailer at the Cinemark in Hadley, MA. :( But Quantum of Solace was a great movie. I forgot my irritation in minutes.
