The Saga Is Now Complete

Keep in mind that the day the book arrives and the day it's shelved are rarely the same day. Stores gets boxes and boxes of books every day. It takes time for the boxes to be opened, logged, sorted, and shelved.

A couple of years ago when I was working at a local Sainsburys on the back door/warehouse department it was a very rare thing that books came in and then straight out on shelves on the same day especially around Christmas.

Hey I can sympathize with all you not receiving the book yet as mine got shipped on Thursday but I won't be receiving it till December 1st or 2nd.

Well I know that Target puts out the books they get the night we have a truck. Yes I'm a team member on the overnight crew, so thats how I know. Put no Star Trek books sold there through. I just think everyone should have the same policy or whatever you wanna call it, just to get something out and make the customer happy.

You can get stuff from American sites shipped overseas? Could you do it the other way around too?

Yes. But it isn't cheap.
I have only done it with Alexander McCall Smith books that get released in the UK a YEAR before we get them here in the US.

I am a little too impatient to wait that long . . .

Yes but not every company will do it and if they do, it is only on certain items.

I can tell you that to ship the 3rd Destiny book to me from Barnes and Nobles the cheapest shipping is $18.71 plus tax and the $7.99 price and takes 7 to 21 days via USPS.. The international express is around 3 days via UPS and costs 48 bucks to ship plus tax and the price of all the items.

JD,

I'm pretty sure the costs depend on where it is shipping to. I'm in Jerusalem and everything coming in and out of Israel is expensive. Plus, there is always the customs fees...

Lucky for me, I'm only living here for 6 months.

I just lost all faith in Amazon. They are now showing that Lost Souls will usuaully ship within 1 to 4 months!

I guess I will be getting it Barnes and Noble this weekend.

I just checked my order that last week said would ship today and now it reads December 1

It's very possible that the had a lot of pre orders and they fulfilled what they could until they went out of stock and now the new date reflects when the new shipment comes in.

When I saw that barnes and noble was shipping Lost Souls on Tuesday I went to Amazon and ordered it with over night shipping, hoping I would have it by today.

But it still hasn't shipped :(. At this rate I could have just waited until next week and bought it at the barnes and noble store!

I will have to remember simonsays for next time.

I just rechecked simonsays and when you search for David Mack and it shows the three books it shows Lost Souls pre-order but if you click on the title of the book its shows that it ships in 2 or 3 days meaning its in stock. HMMMMMMMMMMM.

I just checked on Amazon and saw the samething. I preordered Lost Souls back on Oct. 6 (along with Mere Mortals, The 4400 Wet Works and I got the two other books), and it still says that the estimates shippinmg date is Dec 1st.

Guys,

Your best bet is to just order it from bn.com. There's a 2-3 day delay but you should all have it before Dec.

The Borders and B&N's state that they're not getting it for several days; a local "mom and pop" book shop had a copy, but someone had reserved it already. :scream:

Unless they get a copy at the loca independent book store by then, I will just get it at Barnes and Noble this weekend. They are pretty reliable about having them in the Friday or Saturday before the release date.

I am really frustrated with Amazon right now! It had to be the one book I have most looked forward to in a long time!

My book was shipped on Friday the 14th and arrived today. I ordered from simonsays.com I will never agian oreder from B and N due to the situation I posted earlier.
