am I understanding this, ER is 2nd in its time slot, and 1st in the demo?

Maybe the show is aging, but is it really TOO old for another series?

The way NBC is doing I would say not, however the show is very expensive so I don't think NBC will keep it around especially since most of the high ratings could be accounted by the buzz of its the last season and like last night old stars are returning by the bucket load.

Am glad to see CSI unaffected by the drop in ratings because I have just started watching it (12 episodes into the debut season and loving it). Will watch a few more then get round to my winners/losers list + round up.

Nice to see Supernatural did so well and a good thing it did as that was a hell of an episode last night....

I dont disagree with that, with the show ending, if NBC was to say last minute "ok we will do another series at a lower budget" im not sure the actors would come back, and what returned would be only 1/4 of what ER is.

I think they might be thinking about a spinoff of ER, but the show is ending. It could be ER: Las Vegas, or ER: Boston, or ER: New York. Take a few cheap characters from ER, stick them in a new hospital, there you have a cheaper show.

I don't think you could make a spinoff different enough to warrant enough interest from the fans. I would hate to be NBC because with canned/ending shows they have major holes to fill next year.

Round-Up...

ABC had one of its betters nights with Ugly Betty climbing back into the 9 million range and scored its typical very decent demo and Greys followed it with the 9pm demo win and a strong 15 million in viewers. Life on Mars may have poor retention from Greys but no 10pm ABC show could really do that job well and Life on Mars keeps it climb from recent weeks when it nearly dropped below 8 million so all in all I think LoM is doing good enough work, especially with a strong demo for 10pm...Infact its weird how good all 3 shows do in the demo, which is normally weak for at least one 10pm show on any given night.

NBC would of been pleased to see Earl climb to almost 7 million but the show will need to put a run together to make NBC consider it for a new season. Kath n Kim which doesn't deserve the full pickup is dead & buried and is only around because NBC have too many plugs to hole in midseason. The Office was down from normal numbers but still very strong and I will never understand how it draws such a massive demo rating but never the total viewers to match. 30 Rock while losing some viewers is doing great work from previous years and the demo will keep NBC happy, which is the same for ER though nearly 10 million is great news too but was expected with the return of several former characters.

CW also had something to smile about when Supernatural posted what am sure is easily Series High ratings out of a strong Smallville showing. Next year with Smallville ending I would put Supernatural at 8pm so it cannot be ruined by a weak lead in, which also would give the new show a boost. I have to admit CW has seem some gains this season and if they should shake off some of the stupid ideas they decide to air then they could bury there way out of the deep hole they are in from previous years.

CBS had a typical night so not much to report though Eleventh Hour did increase in total viewers, which is good news since they were starting to creep downwards. FOX had a crap night with Kitchen Nightmares, which only does good work out of a strong lead in.

Those numbers will fall dramatically. In the New York Market they aired football. So when final numbers come out all of those viewers will be taken out for Smallville and Supernatural.

it could work.

Great numbers for Supernatural, and LoM seems to have levelled off, and even rebounding a little.

Since when has it had to be different? ER has done the same crazy shit several times, and fans don't seem to care. Just have some nice new characters that lie to sleep around with people that have smallpox and become zombies after midnight and it will be a hit.

A spinoff of a hospital show, no thanks! There are enough doctor shows, lawyer shows and cop shows as it is.

About how well all three shows do on Thursday night at ten---Would that be a product of Thursday at ten having an overall higher viewership than other nights? If I remember right, all three shows on Sundays at ten do fairly well too. That's definitely a higher viewing night, and I think that applies to ten o'clock as well.

Maybe BC should listen to you.

Tell every channel that! :)

However I could use another law show with Boston Legql ending. :(
