X-Men: Complete Seasons 1 & 2 Box Set

Delighted that X-men is getting the R2 treatment.

They're also releasing the 60s version of Spider-man, Spider-man & His Amazing Friends, two versions of The Fantastic Four, and two versions of The Incredible Hulk.

If only WBs could be arsed releasing Seasons 3 & 4 of Batman TAS, and the JLA sets, I'd be happy. As it is, I'll console myself with the X-Men set!

Because of rights issues I think that this will end up being similar to the 60s Batman series. It may never see the light of day in a Region 1 set. One company produced it, but now another owns distribution rights to X-Men.

I didn't see the point of getting the half season volumes released over the last couple of months when this was coming out. So I'll be getting this for sure.
And I see from their website they have the release of Season 3 on the horizon too. Nice

Worse, no one knows WHO that company is...and Marvel won't go to court to petition to have the rights revert as "abandoned".

Slightly OT, Warners needs to get off it's ass and get Season 4 of X-Men Evo out too...

You would think the people that own the rights to these cartoons would have released the series on R1 dvd when FOX did those three popular X-men movies. Oh well. I guess they don't want money. :p

The thing is, they may not even know they have those rights...apparently the record keeping on this has been SLOPPY, to say the least.

do dvd players still have coding restrictions? o_O i haven't seen one for years. i thought that was take out already >_<

guess your best bet is to get a region free dvd player like most computers have or just a stand alone.

Refresh my memory. I thought the series had been sold to Disney by Marvel and Dis is the culprit here...?

Why can't they just make it a joint venture and split the profit?

Marvel sold the rights to Disney, then Disney underwent some sort of internal reorganization and sold off a bunch of rights to third parties. Disney claims they have no idea which of them hold the X-Men & Spider-Man rights.

An additional complication is that apparently home video rights contracts of that time DO NOT include DVD distribution rights (since DVDs weren't around then).

Marvel, if it REALLY wanted to, could petition the court to hold the rights "abandoned" by whomever holds them and regain clear title. That's why I blame them.

Perhaps I am being naive, but shouldn't there be, I dunno, some sort of record that would resolve this issue rather quickly?

Ferengi Rule of Acquisition 242: More is good...all is better.

You'd think so, but apparently not...

Does anyone know where I can get this in Region 1? I know most places only sell it as region 2, but I was wondering if it was possible to get it in region 1 anywhere. I do not want to bother with a region free dvd player seeing as I have recently purchased a dvd player earlier this year, so it is new.

That's a bootleg.

And your point being? Either you want the show on DVD or not.
