Potential superhero shows for CW since Grayson's dropped?

Probably the only reason to do it is so Samuel Colt could be in it. I personally think it'd be better to do an Old West Supernatural in the 1870s or so, too (but that's where my Old West Monster/Horror story is set--damn you, Kripke! :scream:).

Samuel Colt? Why are they snubbing the boys' direct ancestor, Oliver Winchester? ;) They could set the show in California since the Winchester Mystery House is in San Jose. I'm sure Oliver Winchester invented all sorts of supernatural guns (which is why his widow freaked out about being "pursued by ghosts" and started building the Mystery House to fool them).

It's a bit odd that there's a real life story Kripke could make use of. His lawyers probably told him not to.
Because the Winchester boys' hunting roots come from their mother's family, not their father's. ;)

But their name obviously comes from the Winchester Mystery House, which comes from the Winchester rifle family fortune. The whole Colt storyline proves that the writers are conscious of the connection - how can a storyline that similar just be a coincidence? But I'm sure their lawyers nixed making the connection definite, so they used a different name to keep the lawyers happy and the Winchester estate at bay. ;)

Sorry, Temis. The boys are hunters through their mother's side of the family: Mary Campbell Winchester, daughter of Samuel and Deanna Campbell, was the hunter. Samuel Campbell bears an astonishing resemblance to Walter Skinner from the X-Files. :guffaw: Deanna Campbell bears an astonishing resemblance to Sam's mother from Reaper. Incredibly amazing coincidences both of them.

TPTB have never alluded to the Winchester mansion once. Winchester was chosen because it's a macho sounding name with rifle connections, I assume.

ok one more & a swear im done for a few hours

a Smallville spin-off featuring Jimmy Olsen, as he goes undercover to get the story, but likes it so much, he decides to make it a more regular thing, and is delighted when it helps him get stories that even Lois Lane couldnt get.

Seriously, what the hell were these people thinking in the 60s or whenever.

Milton Burle. Transvestism was humorous inthe 50s because homosexuality only existed in the criminaly insane. I recall an episode of the Dukes of Hazzard where Bo and luke were complaining about wearing High heals when they were hiding from Rosko for some reason. men in dresses is funny. Well except the first season of TNG. It is after all how Tom Hanks begun his career.

You know, with the success of 90210, the CW is dipping back into the well for... Melrose Place.

So maybe you thinking superheroes in the wrong direction. Maybe they'll remake The Greatest American Hero or Automan or M.A.N.T.I.S. or Night Man or Misfits of Science!

the writer liked the thought of men in dresses a little to much? and apparntly so did the person who approves what they right for print.

mark my words whilst the offices of DC Comics looked like men in suits, busy writing or drawing, all of them were doing it wearing dresses in there heads.

^^ That might be the Logo channel's first superhero show...
a logo superhero show would suck, Batman & Robin is good becasue of the homoerotic subtext, and campness, but if that was applied to a gay superhero, it would just be seen as stereotypical and possible offensive.

Still there are fun things you can do, the gay Clark being in love with a male Lois, but feels unable to come out as Superman as he fears people will misjudge him.

The CW is pushing for additional episodes of Gossip Girl and 90210 per season, too. Gossip Girl already has 24 instead of the usual 22. The CW wants 24 per season for 90210 and 25, if possible, for Gossip Girl. That's why its budget was increased while Smallville, Supernatural, One Tree Hill, and the comedies budgets were all cut. Dawn O is determined to make it the teen slut network. She's hoping to remake Melrose Place; that's not a rumor. Commitment to genre shows isn't in her budget. :shifty:

I dont get her attitude towards Supernatural & Smallvile, as both shows do well for the network, sometimes beat FOX in the tough Thursday night

Smallville because it's too old a show and not in her desired "new direction." She cares about Supernatural even less because, even though it holds ground in the toughest timeslot on TV, (even tougher now because the NFL airs games on Thursday nights) it commits a bigger sin. It scores low in the teen female demo and in the female 18-34 demo. Dawn O wants young women to watch her network. GG and 90210 score (for CW) very high in the young female demo. Supernatural, even though it gets a higher HH rating than GG and 90210 and most weeks has higher total numbers, has a lower young female demo. So she doesn't give a shit about it and cuts its budget. Its the Warner half of CW that's kept Supernatural alive. Dawn made no secret that she would have cancelled it after its second season. Warner put its foot down. That's how it got stuck with the Bela character that the audience loathed last season. She insisted on a young, hot female being added to the cast to secure its renewal.
