Is Obama good for Star Trek?

It's not like Hilary has much of a chance now, and Bill is barred from running. Who does that leave us with?
Actually, an occupant of the oval office is not allowed to serve more than 2 consecutive terms, because President Grover Cleveland served as our 22nd and 24th United States presidents.

Bill Clinton can run if he wants to, but why would he with over $100 million in the bank with all of those speeches he makes ($150,000+ per pop) and multi-million dollar book deals.

Just think about it, rich Bill Clinton can pay off all of Hillary's campaign debts if he wanted to, instead of relying on the hardworking American tax payers like me to bail out his wealthy wife.

Alright, somebody has to say it, and I'm calling you out: You take yourself wayyy too seriously. For the love of God, I just referenced the Onion. Did you even bother to click the link?

Yes, I did.

I had to say it, because there are some people in our country who are so uninformed that there is actually a current governor of Alaska who thought Africa was a continent and not a country until someone from the McCain camp had to correct her on that basic, grade school information last month.

It surprises me how the United States is the most powerful nation in the world, yet it has one of the world's worst comprehensive educational systems transnationally and that many of its own citizens are so uninformed.

Yes, and all those jokes on SNL about Palin and McCain and Biden were factual. As if all humor had to be factually true to be funny. As if Obama claiming to be from Krypton and born from Jor-El overrode his Kenyan father and Kansas mother. Basic, grade school information tells me that, y'know, Krypton is fictional and that Obama was practicing satire.

The election is over, good times are ahead, but please, for the sake of your sanity, loosen up. And I say that as a fellow Obama voter (hell, I was there at Grant Park, when Obama himself cracked a joke or three).

And if you're so concerned about people getting the facts right, just remember: the American people had good reason to NOT vote for Sarah "The VP is in charge of the Senate!" Palin. At this point, you're needlessly preaching to a choir that already voted.

About as good a reason to vote for Joe "Article 1 of the Constitution clearly lays out the duties of the executive branch!" Biden....

BUT...that's off topic....

Ewww, Pala-... I mean, that's great! :p
Well, you should have warned me before I moved there from Southern California, realizing too late that what the residents do there for fun is dress up as cowboys and go line dancing, or get drunk on beer while hanging out at pool halls. Hee-ha!

Dressing up as cowboys ain't bad. Line dancing and checkers? Okay, that's something else entirely.

What makes this especially hilarious is your complete ignorance of the Constitution's guidelines for a President's term in office. Grover Cleveland did indeed serve two non-consecutive terms in office, for a total of eight years. George Washington set the precedent that no president would run for election for more than two terms, and this precedent was unbroken until FDR was elected to four consecutive terms.

The two terms limitation was formalized in 1951 with the passage of the 22nd amendment. According to the amendment, the maximum number of years any person can hold the office is less than 10. If a vice president fills in for two or more years when the president is incapacitated, they can only be elected once more. If they serve less than two years, they can be elected twice. As Bill Clinton served two terms as President, he is ineligible to be elected as President ever again. I'm sorry your American Government teacher failed you. And I'm a little surprised nobody's called you on this yet.:techman:

In the past, positive events that paralleled ST's fictional universe have influenced ST's popularity...the Moon landings, the naming of the first space shuttle, the increasingly "PC" 80s(if that's what you want to call it), the end of cold war. Could the election, which has caused a huge outpouring of elation..cheering in the streets, a sense of change and is an embodiment of diversity effect the popularity of ST, whose positive vision has become somewhat darker in response to an increasingly nihlistic 90s and 21st century? Will it be a good thing for the movie?

RAMA

Assuming that Obama's administration produces good results for America, it might be reflected in Star Trek going forward.

However, I don't think a socialistic game plan is good for America, so I don't think it'll be a happy ending.
