"Trek looks not with the eyes, but with the mind," to yet again paraphrase the Borg ... err, the Bard :alienblush:

Our visionaries have this month suffered the slings, arrows and phasers of outrageous fortune to put before us, in accordance with our challenger's beckoning, the very embodiments of their thoughts and dreams as thrust upon them by naught but the simple tongues of scribes.

Or something like that. Bill could've said it a lot better, huh? At any rate, we're here now to see and vote (VOTE!!) upon our peers' responses to Starscape's challenge, to bring a vision to a quote, of any sort, and hopefully, to make it relevant to Trek. They did good :D. So now, you can tell them so!

So vote already! Make your voices heard! Press that lever, punch that chad (awww, poor guy!) - as always, the winner will determine the November challenge.

Had to go for Klaus - I'm a sucker for Zappa :)

(hmmm, on the heels of the last post, that's pretty loaded, too ... )

O.k. - let's do this by elimination:

Think: Nice graphic to hang somewhere - but do I find a Star Trek connection anywhere? 'nuff said.

Klaus: Wiser words have rarely been spoken and the Trek universe is willing to prove that any day - but as a TOS fan I cannot believe half of the examples were picked from that series!

B.J.: Really nice connection between quote and object and well rendered, too (including this military-style font). Maybe it is just me, but the comic approach slightly hurts the message, though.

So my vote will go to
Starscape: Nice perspective in the picture and nice comment on the folly that our heroes (in both universes) are always fighting unsurmountable odds, yet remain victorious. (I doubt we will ever see the Enterprise and several sisterships cornering a single eqivalent enemy vessel.)

Thanks to all artists!

Thanks to everyone who entered!! They're a fine selection of entries and all convey the ideas of the quotes very well.

But for me B.J.'s entry just has that little something extra. So it's got my vote. :bolian:

Another vote for BJ. I'm a sucker for the Defiant-class.

That quote would be a good Defiant-class dedication plaque, come to think of it.

Starscape

It was almost Klaus, but I see he's calling Jellico stupid, and I happen to think Jellico is THE MAN, so I couldn't on principle.

Wow, that was a close one!

Like they said on the news, the polls are closed, and we have a challenger-elect. B.J., congratulations! By a narrow margin, you're our next leader - can you give us a quote? :)

Thanks, also, to our other candidates - Starscape, our incumbent, almost pulled off a second term, but no law prevents him from running again :).

Let the November games begin!

Star Trek 6? Enterprise and Excelsior against 1 little bird of prey? hehe.

Oh and I vote Starscape as well.

Oh and I vote Starscape as well.

I actually thought of that scene in TUC and thus added the word "equivalent" to the sentence. The fact that it was cloaked was shown to make an important difference. Then again, my whole comment is not to be taken too seriously.

P.S. Congratulations to you, B.J.
