"Happy Trails" - Alan Shore and Denny Crane take a breather from the office and saddle up at a Dude Ranch in Utah. But the two city slickers soon find themselves at odds with their fellow horse enthusiasts and may need to call on the always irritating attorney Melvin Palmer - who also happens to be at the ranch. Meanwhile, Shirley Schmidt defends the murderous Catherine Piper (Betty White) when she unintentionally blows up her doctor after setting his office on fire for prescribing medication that almost killed her, on "Boston Legal," MONDAY, OCTOBER 27 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Guest starring are Betty White as Catherine Piper, Christopher Rich as Attorney Melvin Palmer, Grainger Hines as Jensen, Jay Thomas as Ian Hoberman, Rachelle Carson-Begley as Irene Hoberman, David Doty as Judge Ephraim Woods, Michael Ensign as Judge Paul Resnick, Currie Graham as A.D.A. Frank Ginsberg, Christopher B. Duncan as Dr. Jeremy Marley and Robert Cesario as Dr. Lee Watson.

"Happy Trails" was written by David E. Kelley & Corinne Brinkerhoff and directed by Mike Listo.
Oh, Jesus, not Melvin Palmer again. Then again, this sounds like it could actually be fun.

Nice to see Betty White back, too.

Oh, I LOVES me some Betty White! Looking forward to this one for her alone...everything else is just gravy. :techman:

Hey, Melvin Palmer is always good for a laugh!

I'm actually surprised to see that the usually inconsequental musings on the balcony from last week are actually being followed up on this week. Should be a good time!

They just said they won their Supreme Court case, where the hell did that come from? Why didn't they actually mention it before? That's major.

And I will never look at Kirk and a sheep without laughing again, my god that's terrible.

Having an erection for so long is no laughing matter. Those pills stop blood flow in and out of the penis and the after several hours, the penis could "die" just like any other tissue that doesn't recieve blood. When the pill companies tell people to consult a physician if an erection lasts more than 4 hours, they mean it.

As for the ending, I was wondering where Denny and Alan would hold their balcony conversation. I thought it would be somewhere in a rustic setting in Utah, similar to what they did in the New Orleans episode.

Best line of the night:

Alan: Your an extra, you don't get to talk!

:)

Q2
X2. That was hysterical

Melvin Palmer was great as well. To paraphrase:
"Judge, he's drooling at the opportunity that you're about to spoon feed a soapbox to him in your courtroom. The old guy is just, well -- drooling". The way he defended Alan and Denny was truly classic.

Too bad murder trials aren't as quick as this one was portrayed. That's one aspect of this show that's a bit ludicrous, but oh well, it's TV.

Great episode. It pains me deeply that this is its last season. And from what I have heard its not even going to be a full season.

Nope only 7 episodes left.

Am going to laugh so hard when ABC's replacement show gets like 5-7 million and a demo barely at 2.0 :) BL is simply wonderful and ABC you are going to miss it :p

Well BL costs so much with the name actors. I swear they replaced Boston Legal with Eli Stone. That was Eli Stone can get 7.5-8 million viewers, and still be a better deal than BL.

I think the only way for Eli Stone is down...the 2nd half hour drop offs are very big so I think Eli will struggle to hold 7 million as the season goes on.

I think in the final episode, Alan will awaken at his desk at Bobby's firm on The Practice. let's have a Newhart kind of ending!

--Ted

P.S. Of course Alan will have gained about 20 pounds during his "dream" ... Then again, maybe both The Practice AND Boston Legal are hallucinations as Daniel goes through the Stargate ...

^OK....that would be freaking hilarious!

Kurt Russel activates a Stargate on some military base and then out he steps. "WOW. I just had the craziest hallucination!" :guffaw:

I just caught up on this episode this afternoon (damn it I really need a TiVo).

Alan's speech to the judge had me in hysterics: "You look like a loogie-hocker from way back"

And his comment "you're an extra you don't get to talk" was also great.

I'll ask about the mad cow thing in this week's thread, just popping in to flail and fangirl a bit.
