The bridge shots (large images)

Re: The bridge shots

Hmmm. Not a bad bridge design at all. Pretty much what everyone should have expected. BUT, it shouldnt have been used for the Enterprise. Would have liked something a little closer to TOS but with more textures.Again not surprised,no one should be. Can live with it though and hoping for a fun film.

Re: The bridge shots

I see rank braids on McCoy's sleeves, and Scotty and Sulu's, too. It looks like McCoy has the 1 1/2 braids of a lieutenant commander, and that Sulu has the single braid of a lieutenant. If they're all fresh out of the Academy, they'd all be no-stripe ensigns.

I was wondering about that in the other thread, because in the bridge shot it looks as if McCoy has two full stripes - the lighting is reflecting off both of them in exactly the same way. If they're keeping the TOS rank scheme intact (and I see no reason they shouldn't :D), that implies that McCoy has at least the insignia of a commander when he should be a Lt. Commander.

Nah, the upper stripe is definitely thinner.

I remember reading somewhere that the rank system's been revamped as much as to be "unrecongizable" to us.

Re: The bridge shots

I agree. I don't see why people are getting all riled up because of the fact that it changed. Then again, a lot of Trekkies(ers) loathed TNG when it first rolled out "THE BRIDGE LOOKS LIEK A HOTEL" "I IS BOYCOTT DIS MOVEH" is probably what we would see if internet discussion boards were around then.

well, in all fairness, the Ent-D interiors still remind me of a Marriott.

Re: The bridge shots

I used Photoshop to get an idea of what Pine will look like in command gold. Check it out...

Re: The bridge shots

Just want to throw in my thoughts: I love the bridge design. I am into this sort of glassy, neo-futurist look, I think it's awesome. I am more excited now than ever about the movie (and not just because of the bridge design).

Re: The bridge shots

Hate it. Hate everything about it. If they're gonna try and pass that off as the bridge of the Enterprise, they might as well go the next step and say that Lassie is a boa constrictor.

Open your eyes, people! The Emperor is walking around town bloody starkers!

Re: The bridge shots

The bright colors remind me of those early Star Trek: Phase II designs, with a really translucent, white exterior aesthetic.

You're entitled to your own opinion. It doesn't make mine or anyone else's invalid or any less thought-out, however. I know, like, and respect the old designs as much as you do. The Pike-era bridge is my favorite out of all Trekdom. Yet somehow I'm still excited.

Exactly how would you have had it look? What elements of the old bridge would you have kept, and what would you have updated?

Re: The bridge shots

They could have made it at least look somewhat like the real thing. I know it's not 1968, but give me a break!
